So, a little background here first.. I see this ad for Netflix.... about fifteen dollars a month for 2 BluRay or regular DVDs' out at any one time, unlimited number of rentals a month, and, best of all, and what really interested me was this.. Unlimited streamed movies, videos and regular TV shows. Well, I grab the credit card and go to sign up. I get shunted to Zip.ca, the Canadian version. Higher prices and no video streaming due to CRTC limitations and concerns about copyrighht infringement.

So, how do I find a way so that my IP addy when I sign up shows that I`m in the United States? Is there an easy work around for this? I'd be willing to pay the $8.99 a month for the one DVD a month plan, and just use the streaming..

Any suggestions?

I don't know if an anonymiser will work but you could try it. Most will let you try it for free for 10 - 30 days. I use one to mask my IP address for some video sites that don't allow access from outside of the US. The software will route your request through their site so you appear to be located elsewhere. You pay a small price in speed but gain anonymity.

Do a search in google for anonymizer. I use this one .

Net flix / zip .ca

the problem is that Netflix and Zip are owned by the same company and they know your ISP is a Canadian company. Zip says that eventually they will offer movie downloading.

I guess what that means is that even though I could register with a US ip, it would backfire when I went to actually use it...

I know of some people who are with Rogers that got an offer for a similar service, but it wasn't offered to people like me who are analog only...

Why dont you just download the movies for free from various torrent sites?

I want the convienience of using a " net capeable device " to watch movies and shows " on demand" and anywhere I am. Best part of it should be that you can go to someone's place, either use their device or yours, and in ten seconds be watching the episode of " 24 " you missed or a movie without issues. A " net ready device" includes set top boxes, but also PS3 and Xbox 360. I'll pay 3 bucks a week for that convienience..

I would rather suggest dvdlink.ca which I have been using since past few months. My friend had suggested it to me and I am very happy with their service. And the most amazing thing is that they offer both movies and games at the same price.
