We all have to die sometime, the dude is 90+ years old. While I respect him for his unyielding stance against the Apartheid regime I cannot overlook the fact that he had ties to terrorist groups like the PLO and IRA.

There is a strong argument that he was the greatest man of the 20th century.

I think his book should be required reading in our schools.

One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. Right now the establishment power is destroying this world and anybody that dares to question them are given the label.

Nelson Mandela will be missed. He lived a great life.

Bullshit. A terrorist is a terrorist plain and simple. I'm not callling Mandela a terrorist but he did have ties to terrorist groups. His govt was also corrupt with his wife being the Queen Bee.

Not to take away from Mandela, but I wonder if this sort of fuss will also be made when F. W. de Klerk dies?

Was de Klerk locked up for 20+ years, and did he come out of prison with virtually no chip on his shoulder about the whole experience??

The world just got a little bit colder. Farewell Mabida.

If you don't have time to read the book, watch the film:

Really Chief !! Ever heard of the school of the Americas...Ever looked at the secret ops that the CIA did in Central South America, the middle east and Asia.

The man made many mistakes, but he owened up to it and manned up. Made amends and asked forgiveness. Also he said that men are not born heating another, but rather learn to hate. So if they learn to hate they can be thought to love.

Sun City is a gambling haven near the border with Botswana, during the 80's it became the symbol of apartheid. A place where rich whites went to play. At the Sun City was willing to dole out large sums of money to get international musicians to perform there. The response was organized by Bono and Bruce Springsteen, Steve Van Zandt co-wrote the song.

^^^^^^^^ What he said. That fact alone sets Mandela apart from any other figure in the late Twentieth Century.

I wonder if we will ever see another leader like Nelson Mandela. "Great" is too small a word to describe him. He could not live forever, so I hope he is at peace. He will always inspire me. A really great movie about his imprisonment and eventual liberty:
