Need tips from the GPS pro's

I know nothing about GPS's so I need a hand.

I came across a good deal on these 2 items, now I know some guys like garmins better but the dealer has these 2:

Which company is better and can I get maps of different countries off torrents? Which one would you buy. Thank you

I'm mainly familiar with the Garmin, which I love, but according to feedback of others, I'd take the TomTom ahead of the Magellan.

Go to Tiger Direct, or anywhere else before you buy from Bestbuy.

I have a Garmni and I love it. Yes, you can find European maps off the Torrents, and they work very easily for the Garmin.

I have a Garmin Nuvi and it has behaved wonderfully. The only other brand I would consider getting is a tom tom as I have only heard good things about them as well.

Just got one last week and it is perfect. Has built in bluetooth also.

Don't forget there is Microsoft Streets & Trips with GPS Locator (2010) that turns your laptop into a GPS with voice prompts. I have a buddy who swears by it, says it works great and is easy to use. It retails for $70 but can be found online for less than $40.

Believe you can also install it on netbooks.

I concur, I've been using Streets and Trips for years and it's far better than any dashboard GPS I've seen.

Garmin #1, TomTom #2

Most pro drivers swear by the Garmin with TomTom coming in second. Stay away from Sony since it looses signal often in dense highrises.
