Well I'm trying again monday. I figure maybe they took so long because it was the week end. I'm going there early early in the morning so they'll have tons of time to get there and there will be no reason for my room mate not to be there. Presistance is the key.

Now it seems like a mistake for ever going to the cops. Should have just done some damage to his property so he asks himself how much more trouble your stuff is really worth. You say a crowbar wouldn't force the door open, how about the front end of a car?

Of course, if i were in your position (100% of income in cash and immune to civil judgement) I'd go do a Balkan driveway greeting. This bum isn't going to get authorities involved, his secret black-market renting income is worth to much to uncover, he'd take some abuse in silence.

Hard Idle, not worth it. He likely knows where Karma live or work.

Good idea to call Rev Can tip line as he is not reporting rental income.

Karma, if you recall any demage to the unit, remind the owner of it so he lose portion of his last month. But the owner sounds wimpy not getting him to compensate for extra occupant.

Hard Idle: I mean, not to offend you, but where do you come up with this stuff? It is NEVER a mistake to call the cops unless you yourself are involved with something illegal. Your advice about taking a crowbar to the front of his car, well, that will just land Karma in her own pot of trouble because he will KNOW who did it and more than likely burn or dispose of her personal items that he already has in his possession.

As for the 4 hour wait Karma, I warned you. And once again, HI makes no sense at all. It isn't so much about "Your chances of getting action have little to do with law and mostly depend on the personal ethics and whims of the detective you deal with." First of all they don't send a detective, they send a constable or a sheriff. Secondly they will send officers out on a priority basis. Would you rather them send someone to a shooting or say, Oh, umm NO, can't send someone for that, we have to get Karma's clothes back..."

If you can, block his vehicle in with yours so he can't leave. He has to deal with this at some point and if it means missing a day of work, then he should have let you get your stuff to begin with. Like I said, call the cops early. Go over at 5 am and call when you're on your way.

Hey, that was never a suggested course of action for Karma, taking matters inot ones own hands is only for the right people under certain circumstances.

However I do stand by my statement about the cops. I know too many examples of people going to a ploice station and guys just shrugging their shoulders, going out of their way to stay out of it, not even opening a file. Basically they want you to prove the entire case yourself beforehand! When women come to them alone, they usually assume it was some boyfriend-girlfriend thing and automatically side with the guy. It takes the mention of physical or sexual violence to get their attention - only because doing nothing could land them in trouble later on.
