Buy low, sell high.
No, you got that all wrong. If you are the real estate agent you want to make your clients "Buy high, sell low". The agent saves a ton of money that way because there is minimum amount of time invested.

Damn, becoming a real estate agent? Well, all the female ones I've ever met have all been very pretentious, snobbish, and really bad dressers....

OH yeah, don't forget the big hair lol

I haver to say that real estate is a good choice but for a lovely lady car sales is hands down winner. I remember one lady who sold cars. She would never wear undewear and only wore tight dresses. She could sell to most every man wo walked in without his wife.

I don't know how it works in Canada but in the US agents are independent contractors. They usually draw against commission.

Car sales is often draw against commission but consider this couples buy houses but men often buy cars, alone. And yes SEX sells. That is to say the illusion of will too.

Your weekends will be gone, say goodbye to your friends. :eek:
...not to mention your weeknights as well. Going into people's personal space can be quite nasty at times too (odours, unkept homes, ect.).

It is one of the few professions where one can be completely uneducated and actually make a substancial amount of money if one has the ability to "connect" with people.

If you don't have a clue what you are talking about then rather keep your trap shut.
Real Estate Agents have to go through a ton of education before they can be licensed, never mind the ongoing education they have to keep up with. It is damn hard work, very competitive and the bad ones do not last long at all. (No I am not a Real Estate Agent)
Saying that, the good ones can earn a ton of money, but it is ALL commision based, no sales no money! They also have to pay for their own advertising and marketing, desk fees to the Real Estate Company, car lease payments, gas etc. High risk and high reward.
It normally takes a couple of years to start reaping the benfits too. If you can't stick it out for that initial period then don't even think about going into the profession.

Good luck...as has been pointed out it doesn't take all that long to get your licence. The hard part comes in building your client base and experience. Some established real estate agents will "partner" with newbies to get them to handle showing houses (buyers agents), open houses, follow up paperwork etc. You earn a percentage of their commission for doing a big chunk of the work. This is a good way to get your feet wet, build some experience and begin your career. Most of the real estate offices have a high flyer that "employs" a number of other agents to work with them.

Dear 'kitten;

I am absolutely certain that you will succeed, because you are a great people person. It is quite a lot of work, but it should be fun, as well, based on what I observed when an acquiantance went through with the program. Go to it with a positive attitude and don't question why they want you to learn all that seemingly useless stuff (at least to my acquiantance, anyway).

Please let me know when you will make the transition, so that we can see each other again before then! (I am slow in the hobbying lately). :)
