Sounds like you may have inadvertently switched your keyboard style to another default language. Like Twister said, reboot.

Go to the Control Panel (click your windows start button and look for Control Panel) then search for "Region and Language" and make sure it is set to English. Then reboot

I don't have to reboot but I make sure that it says English (United States) US Keyboard

Get a can of compressed air from Canada Computers or Staples and give the keyboard a damn good blast. Or just buy a new keyboard.

Hi Yoga Face, I assume you are running Windows 8. Look at the bottom right corner of your screen. See where it says ENG CMS? Click on it and change the keyboard to ENG US. You get all of your punctuation back.
