I need a cutter for stiff, mild steel pins about 1 mm thick. Can anyone recommend a craft or handyman store that might have a selection of appropriate tools of this type?

Do you need the cutter now, or can you wait? How many wires do you need to cut? You can use a dremel type tool or a grinder with a cut off wheel if the wire is difficult to cut. Try the link below for all types of tools, wire cutters and specialty tools.

Tee OH!
A true handy man's answer ^ .

How accessible are these wires with the tool? 1mm doesn't seem like a heavy duty job.
The only other question now is what have you got attached to these wires?

Thanks, guys. There's a Princess Auto just down the 404 from my office. I can pick up those bolt cutters tomorrow. ;-)

Another demonstration that you chime in on everything... knowing nothing and with useless information.

A grinder with a cut off wheel for a ONE millimeter mild steel pin? My nail clippers could cut that!

Can he wait? For some Made in China PPOS ordered from Harbor Freight?

Harbor Freight is a US outfit. The cheapest shipping would cost more than the finest tool at Canadian Tire or any hardware store on every other street corner in Canada. Never mind customs brokerage!

1 mm is thin. Any hardware store. Like Rub said.

There are also some specialty hardware stores for construction people (like the bolt cutters that can cut thicker gauge wire as in welded wiremesh, chain link fences or even padlocks or combination locks).

Investment Hardware Limited in Woodbridge is one example. Don't know if Angelo's Hardware is still around (used to be on Jane St).
