So I called this girl I like (I got her number through my friend), and we have plans to meet for dinner tomorrow. Just 2 quick questions:

1)What is a good Japanese restaurant near Christie/Bloor? Price is not an issue.

2)What would be a good idea for a date afterwards? Take her to Harbourfront? Ideas, please. Don't think a movie would be a good idea because she would not be interacting with me for 2 hours, and time is precious.

Thanks all for your advice in advance. :)

Also, how should the date end? A flirtatious smile, hug, or kiss on cheek, or lip?

Again, I need the advice of pros. I'm tired of winging it and coming up empty.

On college st is my favourite sushi place.... Sushi Island but if you are a sushi purist you won't like it because they sometimes use creative ingredients in some of their rolls etc.

IL BUNJI has been recommended by a friend once I can't remember if that's on bloor or college.

Sushi on Bloor isn't bad either.

As for after dinner...... I'll let someone suggest something. But maybe you want to see if there is some sort of party or what not associated with the Toronto Film Festival?

Hug at the very least. As for kissing don't try and slip her your tongue. Course I guess it all depends on chemistry and how you feel.

But I gotta warn you taking dating advice from me is like getting driving lessons from Ray Charles.

For the ending of the date, I would not press for a kiss, unless the mood is mutually warranted.

A handshake is the safest, although that is not necessarily a good sign that the date went well.

A hug is a good compromise, again if it is mutual.

omg FC where do you come up with those lines LMAO!
I dunno I just take jokes that I've heard over the years and amalgamate them. Actually the original joke may have used Stevie Wonder.

Besides the best humour has an ounce of truth. :D

I always found on first dates the best kiss was one planted on her neck just below the ear..softly.

From the reaction you can tell whether the woman is interested. And, many who were not became interested. It's a very personal sign of affection...and one not usually done on a first date...hence the softness.

Good luck!

Stay away from the handshake.... it's a good greeting but not to say goodbye IMO.

Hugs are pretty safe.

Kiss is based on your judgement.

if you like her, make sure she knows it. at the very least there should be a hug and a kiss on the cheek. after you kiss her cheek whisper somthing sweet in her ear, take her hand and give it a gentle squeeze. if she returns the squeeze your well on your way to "ymmv" ;)

dude don't play to be someone you are not... show your natural confidence and smile... she like you enuff to go out with you...so you in her eyes are worth the time...now you have to see if she is worth your time..... gals see bullsh@t from a mile way... if the weather improves and the day is good then go for a walk any where you can have quiet time... look at her eyes and smile often... read her body language and see if she really into you...a smile and a hug is good on a first date... and remember to call her after and wish her sweet dreams befor bed.. and that you had a nice time and look forward to spending some more time with her... just be a cool dude .. she should like you for you ...the real you , not the pretend you.....best of luck....

Lots of good advice (although conflicting for the hug/kiss/shake issue. lol)

Thanks, elmufdvr. I also believe that being yourself is important. Being fake is the worst thing, and it's so detectable.

I think I will settle for a game of pool with her. Then maybe just a nice smile or a quick hug at the end.

just a suggestion but there is a very nice display of chinese lanterns at ontario place, it is $25/person but it could be a little more unique. Just be warned that it might be crowded.

A friend recommended this too. Is it really worth it? Is it just a display of lanterns? If so, I can hardly see how it would be interesting.

I think that would be a perfect date. I would love to stroll and admire pretty lanterns with the moon and the lake as the backdrop.

another great place would be a comedy club. Its like going to a bar and you don't have to worry about having to make her laugh. :D

Thanks

1) There is a GREAT Japanese restaurant right by Bathurst and Queens Quay...I got there almost every week (since I live so close)...walk away from the music garden and Harbourfront....

I went last week to see the chinese lanterns. It was definitely beautiful and a nice stroll. However, the walk to get to the stroll is quite long....lol. Wear comfy shoes.
