Hell of a game tonight. Too early to say - but Spurs will be tough to beat. For those who questioned whether or not Duncan has what it takes - forget about it. Ginobli was unstoppable, Parker played as tough as any small guy can - including Iverson. Should be a great series! BTW- does Hubie Brown know his stuff or what?

Detroit's just gotta score...

Detroit looked good in the 1st half, but S.A. just crushed them that 2nd half. I agree the Spurs look good and will be tough to beat.

.....San Antonio didn't look that unstoppable in the first half, the difference is that when the Pistons hold down the Suprs..they are missing a lot of close easy shots...San Antonio doesn't do that... a bad pattern of the Pistons...they go too long in games without scoring...against a formidable opponent like San Antonio..it might mean curtains for the Champs.....In this
2-3-2 format....game 2 is critical....the Pistons must have it ...then they could go home with less pressure on them to win 3 in a row at home...If San Antonio gets game 2..this series is over in 5

Ouch. The Pistons looked terrible in the 4th quarter, and I don't know if they have anyone to stop Ginobli. Sheed just has to play better for them to have a chance.

Oh well, it's just one game. I haven't lost my bet yet.

Congrats to San Anton

they were definitely expected to win game 1. First quarter and a bit was too much like I had predicted......and 4th quarter was too much like SanAnton fans here predicted. Duncan saved the game early on...and Manu took over late.

Detroit definitely has to dig deep and get back game two to stay in this.

Billups played solid and Rasheed/Hamilton/Prince/Ben played good defense but coach Brown will have to tinker with the offense to get more easy looks.

the spurs are the best defensive team in the nba while pistons were the best defense in the east, I'm sure they will be able to stop detroit - they not what you call a offensive power house. Detroit doesn't really have a 'goto guy'(their missing ingredient), a player who get a score in the crucial moments. Pistons play a team oriented offense, if everyone is covered no one creates exceptionally well. Spurs have Duncan as 'goto guy' and Manu who can create off the dribble

plus the spurs can run and play offense as witness in the sun's series, they are not limited to just one style

I think my analysis of detroit's lack of a 'goto guy' was bang on, also the fact they have lulls in their offense where as Spur's have Tim B. Duncan and Manu

I only caught the first half of last night's game. And I have to say that the two teams were pretty even. Although, I'm going with the Spurs in the series, I was very impressed with Detroit's D. Unbelievable defensive coverage which caused many shots to be blocked or altered. When I checked the score this morn, I was relieved that the Spurs came back and took it.

Detroit will take game two
I thought so too, and we were both wrong. The Spurs look unbeatable at this point. 69 and 76 points is not going to get it done. How did they lose to the Lakers last season?

I've never seen a team miss so many close in shots..

...unfortunately the Pistons are in real trouble now...especially after tonights game where they were totally outclassed at their own game...team basketball. I've become a fan of the Pistons over the last two yrs..especially with no hockey this year. But it seems they've met their match. The Spurs do everything the Pistons hang their hat on...just better. And the guard play from Detroit is abysmal. Meanwhile, Ginobli and Parker are tearing it up.And their defense is as good as Detroits...so the chances of this series going more than 5 games is remote. The Pistons might pull one off at home on pure emotion, but there is no question which of these two teams is better..as much as that pains me to admit...

Well, if you are rooting for Detroit, the appropriate thing to say is no big deal, the Spurs basically held serve on their home court, but we now have 3 games at Auburn Hills, so this series is far from over.

Yeah, right. Like new2game says, it is clear which team here is better.

The Pistons "exploded" for 96 points tonight, and suddenly they don't look so overmatched anymore. Hard to believe, based on tonight's performances, that these were the same teams which played a few days ago in San Antonio.

As a Pistons backer, I am encouraged by the heart they played with tonight. However, I still think San Antonio wins this series, if for no other reason, because they have home court advantage. The Pistons don't win unless they can win at the Spurs' gym, and so far neither team has shown they can beat the other on the other team's home floor.

I don't really know
they managed to stop Manu tonight by brusing his knee, he didn't drive to the basket as much

Duncan was not so good tonight, he was too tenative - he will be back thursday with a monster game

I expect the spurs to come back and win game 4 and pistons to win game 5 - then spurs to take series in game 6 as I said in the previous post

these are 2 very well coached teams that play with alot of determination, it's great to watch all the defense

What were they (Spurs) homonger, like 42-3 at home this year.

The Pistons looked good last night. If they win game four, I like your chances for winning your bet. It's hard to get a hate-on for San Antonio. They're a class organization from top to bottom.

Yeah, I agree, and I am, by no means, anti-Spurs. I saw a good value on a bet on the Pistons and that's why I'm rooting for them.

Game 4 for the Pistons is, duh, a must-win game. They absolutely need to win it if they are to have any chance in this series. I hate this expression, but they need to "hold serve" on their home floor and put the Spurs back on their heels.

Gee, suddenly the Pistons look like the better team. Home court advantage really is the difference maker, duh. McDyess and Hunter were huge last night.

If the Pistons can win Game 5, all they have to do is win one game at San Antonio. Simple, right?

not surprising is a 2-2 tie as of today, but because it went 2-0 then 2-0 the other way.......both teams dominating for a 2 game stretch....I would have thought close games with exchanging victories was more likely.

Anyway...a great series...Sunday's game should tell the tale...the winner should take it all............but the way this has gone...who knows??

It will be interesting to see which Spurs team shows up on Sunday. Hopefully they were not too demoralized last night.

....especially Duncan, when coach Popovich was talking to him, with about 5 mins left, I thought Timmy was gonna cry...I guess a 31 point ass kicking will do that to you. However, the Pistons don't handle sucess very well, they sometimes try to coast when they feel they have the advantage. Although the series is 2-2, the Pistons are being given the advantage,by the pundits because of the total domination last game. Pistons had better keep their foot full throttle on the gas if they expect to win this series. San Antonio looks wounded, but the Pistons better not let them up, otherwise they are in trouble..

This series kind of reminds me of some of the Celtics/Lakers series back in the 80's where it seemed like one team would routinely blow out the other every other game. 31 point victory or not, it still just counts as one win, and I agree, the Pistons better not get cocky. It is bizarre to me how well an NBA team can play once they are at home, and after watching the first 2 games, you would have been convinced the Pistons were done. After watching the last two, you would think the Spurs are done. Even if Detroit wins on Sunday, I think the Spurs will still be able to pull it out, because so far, Detroit has played like crap in San Antonio.

yeah thats something I dont get in all of sports...why is the home team statistically better? The crowd can only do so much cant it?? These blowout games suck, doesnt keep me tuned in for the entire game...
