Did anyone else out there take that Mensa test that was on Fox last night? I got 47 out of 60 questions right but I didn’t see the chart to rate myself, I was busy adding up my score, Da!

Just so it won't be looked upon as hijacking the thread for Alien bashing purposes ;) the test can be found at http://testonfox.com/

TRD - you should be able to convert your score there too!

Here
I scored 54/60=126, I missed the cut for mensa by 4 IQ points. I guess if I want to join I'll have to wait 4 years and take another test, then my 54/60=133 IQ. Since the memory section was by far my worst area hopefully it doesn't deteriorate too much in 4 years. Remembering those addresses really messed me up, I only got 2/5 of the address questions.

I believe wanting to watch Canadian Idol automatically deducts 10 IQ points...

Did ya notice the studio audience that came in last?

THE BLONDES. Thus giving credibility to notorious Blonde Jokes.

Not that I believe in this test, but I got 57/60 and have an almost-Alienesque IQ of 138.

i did the test: IQ of 123...

which is strange, because i used to be a member of mensa - i managed to get in because of my incredibly high score on the LSAT, which put me in the 98th percentile.

Funny, I have never seen vocabulary or short-term memory questions on any Mensa or IQ tests.

This gave me an IQ of 121 when I have consistantly scored between 130 and 140 on real IQ tests. I know I have short-term memory problems but it doesn't have any bearing on IQ.

Oh well, how much credibility can the test have when it was on Fox.

i too am bothered by memory tests being on this test...

its like a computer -

IQ =
Short term memory = RAM
Long term memory = Hard drive.

the other thing that bothers me is the time limit on each question, as opposed to giving a set period of time to do each question - whic is the way i have previously done tests like this

Let's remember..this was a test put out for a prime time television audience...who's collective IQ is known to be too small to measure...they HAD to include pap to make SOME of the viewers think they were smart.

Remember..this is the same target audience that watches The Bachelor and Fear Factor.

Interesting point, meesh. I am not a TV executive, but somehow I think the folks who create reality television are unconcerned that a significant portion of the populace thinks this stuff is drivel, and are laughing their way to the bank.

On the subject of IQ, I, like Mr. X, was a card carrying member of Mensa, due to my 99 percentile performance on the SAT. I was never very active, and went to one meeting, which reminded me of that episode of the Simpsons, where Lisa is befriended by the only smart people in Springfield (Dr. Hibbert, Comic Book Guy, and Professor Frink, there might have been another character too). Talk about a dorkfest!
