Okay so Im not sure what Don was so confused about but you totally picked up on what I was asking. Im still very confused about the whole "it's okay to talk to them in a bar. but on the streets the police give the women a hard time because they presume they are pros". How do the police know that you and this women aren't genuinely romanticly involved?
How would they know she' s pro just because she with a tourist in public?
Confusing... you meet her at a bar, you want to bring her back to your casa particular, but you can't because you'll be seen in public? You have to tell her to meet you back at your casa? Is this right?
Pretty much how it often happens. She leaves the club in one cab, you take another. You pay for both cabs and meet at the casa.
The cops don't know if she is a pro or your girlfriend when they see you together, however they may detain her and have her sent to the police station to check her record. If her record is clean, she may be let go or given her first warning. I believe second warning is a fine and third is jail time.
Officially, for her to be with you, she is supposed to have a letter from the local office stating that she is engaged and planning to marry you. That way she wouldn't have to worry about random stops.
There are, of course, other situations where the girl is confident that she is doing no wrong and doesn't care if the cops see you together. One girl wrongly assumed she was okay talking to me and spent about three hours at the police station as a result.
