My trip to Cuba,

I just came back from my annual trip to Cuba. This was my first time in Santiago de Cuba. I love the Cuban women and I’ve had my share in other parts of Cuba. I was expecting more of the same while checking out a new city.

I stayed at the Club Amigo Carasol which was about 60 km from town out in the middle of nowhere. It’s too far from the action and the transportation is a problem. Cabs are infrequent and expensive. The resort doesn’t organize anything. I ended up hitching a ride with the hotel employee bus with some employees I befriended. I pretended to be an employee and got a ride into town for free. In return, they asked me to help smuggle some beer and wine out of the hotel so they could party on the bus. It was quite the cultural experience partying on the bus with the resort staff.

I did the employee bus thing for the 1st couple of nights until I could arrange a casa particular in town and a rental car. I used the resort as a base of operations and I spent most of the time in the casa in town. The trip to and from the resort was a real white knuckle experience through the mountains. It was really beautiful countryside though.

I had a great casa particular in Santiago, near parque Cespedes. It was a palace by Cuban standards. I had a full course lobster dinner for 9 pesos and a fridge full of beer and cold drinks. PM me if you’re interested in the address.

I discovered that the lady of the casa insists in taking down the names and addresses of everyone who stays there. She runs a legitimate operation and the officials occasionally inspect the guest list so she wants to keep it in order. This was a problem for any of the puta’s cuz they don’t want to go on record for staying there. Fortunately, I found one lady who was a real gem and I spent the week with her.

My g/f was from Guantanamo and was visiting her aunt in Santiago. She was a very cute petite mullato with an amazing body.

I went to Guantanamo to meet the family and we went out to a disco. Like all Cubans, she seems to dance like she has no spine. She did some really dirty dancing with me in front of her folks who didn’t seem to mind.

The disco seemed to have a lot of pretty young little hotties dancing with older tourists guys. I guess I was in good company.

I asked them to take me to the American compound in Guantanamo bay and they looked at me like I asked them to take me to the moon. They said it’s impossible to get within view of the base. Too bad. I really wanted to see the American’s special “resort” for their special “guests.”

I really had a great time with this little cutie and I really would like to bring her home someday cuz I think she’s a keeper. I know you can take the girl out of Cuba but you can’t take Cuba out of the girl. I know there will be problems.

I don't know about your experiences in Mexico but riding the buses there are an absolute blast so I could imagine what you went through on your employee bus. Most of the time in Mexico there's lots of singing and once in a while a bottle of tequila gets passed around. being a gringo with $$ I brought along one once or twice.....

Sounds like you had a blast but I am wondering, if you stayed in town, why'd you bother booking the resort?

Cigars cost about 4x to 5x as much here than in Cuba.

Certainly. Even if you buy at their habanos houses, say in Varadero, on the main street across from the Arenas Blancas resort.

They are cheaper if you get from the streets, but even aficionado risks getting fake ones if you're not careful.

The beaches on the Carribean side of the island are more “natural.” There are more rocks and coral. The water’s a little warmer. It’s a paradise for snorkelers and scuba divers. It’s a good idea to wear shoes on the beach.

The Atlantic side is more pristine white sand.

I bought some Cohiba Esplenditos for 45 pesos a box (about 60 Cdn). I bought from some guy working in the resort. I think they are good cigars but I doubt they are authentic.

The bus trip was a blast. They had guitars and were singing songs getting drunk.

It was my 1st time in Santiago so I didn’t know of any casa particulars before I left and I didn’t want to just show up in Cuba without a place to stay. Mid Feb is peak tourist season. It was $800 to stay in an all inclusive but $600 for air only. Not much more to get free food and drinks. My regret was booking a resort so far away.
