I eat out every day. usually twice. McD is fine. I get their wraps. the coffee is pretty good too. they laughed at me as i went thru the drivethru 2 or 3 times a day when they were giving away coffee. i don't mind. fun's fun. But when I see the pigs ahead of me with their giant orders, i hope they never return. mistakes will happen. some Mcd hire low-rent personnel. you need to find the upper-class McD's that are in better neighbourhoods. Your odds of getting what you want go up substantially. For instance, warden/sheppard in toronto. A NoGO zone. Wilson near Jane. Same. Leslie and shepperd. great. woodbridge. great.

Starbucks! You get to pay three times as much for service just as shitty. And they have the nerve to put out a tip jar. Only good thing is if you complain on their internet site they send you coupons for free coffee.
What Starbucks you going to? I go to SB a couple times a week only for espresso drinks, I prefer McD or Tims for regular coffee. Starbucks sucks up like no other coffee establishment and if you complain they hand out coupons for free drinks faster than you can puke up your McD's burger! I once left with 2 drinks (she made the first wrong, so asked if I wanted the quad Americano she made by mistake) and a coupon for next time! (Cashier overcharged me so instead of refund they give a $6 drink for free).

Only 1 time did I get bad service and it was the manager who did it so I complained on their web site. Never heard crap, no coupon or email. So I told my story at another SB next visit and I got a free drink and a coupon. They suck up like no other place ever...... go to a different store.

Customization is not something McDonald is well known for. You can't expect them to give you a filet-of-fish with no cheese when they are not trained to do this. As well, consider the age of the employees. Most of them are kids and will be leaving the job in a year or so.

In the end, you can't expect the same customization you'll get when you go to say a Starbucks and order a grande mocha latte with soya and no foam in a venti cup.

I have always loved mcchickens but the fact that they have them in a warming thing like mcnuggets for a long time before they actually get made into a sandwich bugs the crap out of me. Before they started doing this (long time ago) the sandwiches were so much better.

I also hate ordering mcnuggets that seem like they are at least an hour old. Rock hard.. pathetic. I used to love mcdonalds as a kid. I'd go twice a week!
Now I try it maybe once a year and it's the same thing. I guess I'll never learn lol

wrong. wrong. wrong. they cater to customization. they even have a process. they may not fill the order very well all the time, some of the staff are really dumb, but for sure you can get a filet with no cheese. no sauce even if you like. just ask. nothing to it.

It is actually a way to get a fresh sandwich everytime, by asking them to omit something that it is premade with.

Wrong. The meat of the sandwich is pre-made, and the sandwich is assembled to order. If it's screwed up. it's either apathy or incompetence.

I have a friend who is a plumber. He often does work in food courts in various malls around town.

He tells me that the ONLY place he will eat in a food court is McDonalds. (They are clean, the others are filthy - especially if it is run by Chinese (don't shoot the messenger, I'm just telling you what he's telling me))

Anyway, something to consider.

If I go to Mick Doe's it's usually for a number 2 combo in the a.m. and I go inside and they never fuck it up.

This has been my experience as well with Starbucks. They treat me very well. I've even gotten complimentary muffins or sandwiches because I am a regular at the one near my local bookstore.
I go in to sit and read my book with a yummy coffee, and they give me a free pastry. Last I checked, that was good service, not bad.

As for McD's you a) get what you pay for and b) get treated according to your attitude. I am always very friendly and kind to the cashier, and I have only had my order messed up twice. Once they gave me extra chicken strips(bonus!), and the second time they gave me the wrong type of McFlurry, which they quickly apologized for and fixed the situation by giving me the right one, and giving me a free toy(hotwheels!)

Apparently you can ask for a quarter pounder with all the big mac toppings on it (lettuce, tomato etc) for no extra charge. Haven't tried this myself yet.

Maybe you could TOFTT and let us know what happens!!

McD's is a nessesary evil...just like most fast food restaurants. Some of us spend some of our work on the road. You need to eat..and eat fast.
Md'd's big problem...is while they used to be fast (remeber the TV ads in the 70's?)
It seems they are one of the slowest FF restaurants now.

I actually prefer nuggets that are not fresh.. but for everything else that I enjoy on their menu, if it isn't fresh it's lousy.

I can't comment on the other stores, but Kirks friend is right. I worked years ago for McDs and went into many different stores. They are anal about keeping stuff clean. I often here negative things said about McDs but on that issue they could not be more wrong.

That changed around 17 years ago or so. They used to make food so there was always prepared food sitting in the trays (they called it the bin) so that people could order and instantly get it. This system was replaced by a cook in advance and asemble on order then "Q" (mcdonald's speak for microwave). In theory this means stuff should alwasy be fresh but in practice I find stuff more often than not it's not fresh. I get a custom order everytime and under the old system it was always fresh off the grill. Now I often get dry, cook ages ago product.

i was doing laundry at a laundry mat the other night and there is a mcd's near by so i went there to get something to eat while i waited. no big mac buns, no quarter pounder buns, all i could get was chicken which would be fine if it wasn' dry enough that i cut my mouth and had to use tweasers to yank off the piece of mouth meat it left hanging, the fries made sure it was good though cuz a medium fries had about 5 pounds of salt on it. the coke was good though, no complaints about the coke. i guess mcd's at 3am is different than mid afternoon.

as for the coffee talk all you have one is make me happy that i am allergic to coffee and when i see people complain that it is bad, burnt, made wrong, to strong, to hot, to old, to weak or any other number of complaints and the line up's out the oors and down the street (i have seen drive thru's lined up the street). i just hop into the nearest convenience store grab a full throttle and 2, 5 hour energy's and head on my merry way laughing and twitching from energy drink overdose.
