My License Suspended For Not Paying Speeding And Parking Tkts

I almost got a heart attack when I opened my mail today, my license has been suspended for not paying 1 speeding ticket for $45 and 1 parking ticket for $35 ( both overdue for 2 months), I forgot about them as I was on holidays, and came back to see this fuckign letter.....

I thought these bastards atleast gave you 6 months before they became nasty.

what can I do ???/ shoud I hire a lawyer, I need my license as I drive for a living, WTF can I do ????!?!!??!

any help plzzzz...thanks

They say I have to pay the fine, pay $150 to re-activate and I might have to re take my driving test, are these guys fucking serious......

why don't they go after real criminals....

There isn't any thing you can do.

Pay the fine.

The problem is...It takes a week to reactivate your license. If you get caught driving with a suspended license, you are fucked.

There's more you're not telling. I have about 1300.oo a year in parking tickets. I pay it when I renew my vehicle sticker. Never got a notice telling me i was now an "off roader".

Unless they've changed the law in the last 30 days, I'm betting you have more infractions than you're telling. Or, you have more than you know. Traffic cameras are all over the place now.

You may also have unpaid spousal or child support. Spousal and Child debts will get your license cancelled pronto especially if you have to pay through the FRO. The FRO accounting system is something they invented all by themselves.

For 3 years i owed 268.15. Every payment was made on time, never a problem. But I owed 268.15. When I and my lawyer sat down in their office to determine what the amount was for, or how they attributed the debt..he couldn't tell us. Quote.." I don't really know how it works..it happens all the time.."

If it's FRO..just pay it. Seriously..hire a lawyer..it will cost more than the outstanding amount and they may still come back and say pay it..and not be able to tell you why. It's the beauty of bureaucratic red tape. You can fight..but you can't drive while you fight and it could take two years!

It's not right..but it is more cost effective to just pay it.

I mean sure I have had numerous speeding tickets ( average 1 every 2 yrs) but I always paid them or fought them in court.... but this time because it was a small amount, I decided I would pay it when I felt like it, and I get my fucking license suspended........I can kill these morons there.

It is not for parking tickets.

It is only for your speeding ticket. The same thing happened to me.

There is NOTHING you can do except go and pay the fine. It takes a couple of days for it to show up in the system. Once it shows up in the system go to the licence office and get a new license.

There is nothing else you or anybody else can do.

Does not matter if you paid them. Like I said there's more to your story.

You've got enough infractions to demand a court appearnace.

You decided the speed laws diidn't apply to you and now you've been asked to explain your reasons in court. Rightly so.

They do not recind your license if your a good driver. You have been found to be a bad driver.

The best thing you can do is examine your habits. Are you a bad driver? If you are you are a danger to all of us. More than likely your overly agressive...which is just as bad.

i hear you. But, you must have received a notice to show up in court for your speeding and parking infractions. If you indeed get a notice about your infractions while you were on holiday, then go down to city hall court house and present them your air line ticket and hotel stay with the dates stated on the receipts and i am sure they court house clerk will assist in this matter.

This happened to me last year. I recieved a bright orange notice in the mail 5 days AFTER my license was suspended. As soon as i paid it I was given a paper to carry so that I could drive until I recieved my new license.

2 days ago my friend was ticketed for driving with a suspended license that she didn't know was suspended because she didn't recieve the letter until today. Now that is not fair.

Now that is not fair.

The TPA being fair when it comes down to end of month numbers? Never. One Cop wanted to give me a ticket for having a plates that were not visible just after the last snow fall and I had driven through a construction area that was muddy. The cop was waiting just outside the construction area. I managed to talk myself out of it, but, best thing anyone can do to avoid tickets is don't give them a reason to give you one.

As for the original note about suspension, as Sheik said, if you have not responded to your speeding ticket, such as paying it or contesting it, its automatic suspension.

If action is not taken in the form of payment, appeal or re-opening application made by the due date specified, the matter will be forwarded to the Ministry of Transportation and a $20.00 enforcement fee will be added to the existing fine and cost amount. The fine amount must be paid to the Ministry of Transportation upon renewal in order to receive your plate sticker for the following year or to purchase new plates.
