It is bullshit these days. The government should give us important people strobe lights. We tape them to the roof of our vehicle and then the not-so-important (trying to be politically correct here) drivers ahead would know to clear the way for Us.

It's an anger-management issue. If you slow down, drive the speed limit, and learn to keep your road rage under control, everything will seem much better.

You mean like a flashing blue light as in Russia. It said you don't want to get in their way EVER. Kind of like red license plates in Ontario.

There is scientific proof that the worst drivers are in Brampton but we are not allowed to say so.
All this pussy tiptoeing around the issue has got me confused. According to wikipedia the largest ethnic group in Brampton is white. The second is south asian, is that what y'all are trying to imply? Well, that's the first I heard of this, I thought it the bad drivers are supposed to be chinese.

And for fucks sake this is an anonymous forum so grow some fuckin balls already you colorless twats. If what you really want to say is all non-whites are crap drivers, then either come out and say it or shut the fuck up.

Boy some old wives tails will never stop. There is much more to driving safe than driving slow!

Ex, by my place a new medical building opened up on a two lane 45mph zone--that is like 90kmh. The city built a right passing lane so traffic can pass if somebody is stop waiting to turn left. Like 50% or more of the folks in my sub pull out way too far in to the passing lane while stop witting for traffic to clear. And it seems like the slower they drive in the sub, the more likely they pull out too far and could be hit. Accidents don't happen since its not often a car is stop waiting to turn left but a nasty accident is just a matter of time.

I even seen an drivers ed car with only one person pull out too far in a 55mph zone waiting to turn left. Most likely the driver instructor, I blew my horn at the jerk when I was behind it but likely the dude thought I wanted him to turn. His back wheels were pass the line...I blew pass the jerk once we both turn but guess I should had wrote the number down and call the place to tell them their drivers ed guy is "nuts"..traffic goes 65 mph through there.

Those white lines are there for a reason, U are to stop BEHIND them. Sometimes the lines are too far back so I don't always stop behind the lines but.

I wish everybody could get it in their heads driving safe is more than driving slow.

Then U get the slow drivers with no turn signals..those are the ones who cuss me out while I come this close.......while passing them cause I didn't know they were going to change lanes.

Un huh, that is BS...unless U obey all other traffic rules.

So if U drive 100kmh in the left lane on the 401 everything will be fine. Where do these drivers come from? Do schools teach this crap or what?

(and sorry for picking on U, for all I know U are a safe driver who don't think they "own" the road)

That is another thing, we are to SHARE the road with everybody else. If nobody is in front of your car, move on over to the right so others can pass if they like. So what if they are speeding?

Well if you aren't actively passing, you're supposed to be in the right lane....

I hear you. It's selfish, discourteous driving. Sometimes I wonder if these drivers even realize there are other cars out on the road with them. It's like they're so concerned about themselves that they'll put themselves in place to take advantage of other traffic, even if they have no intention of doing so, and screw the fact that there's 10 other drivers all with places to go.

Two of my pet peeves on the hiway: One the nimrods who lane hop relentlessly during heavy traffic / gridlock conditions - dangerous and futile - you aint going nowhere! Two, driving in the right lane, doing the speed limit, even ten k over, two open lanes to my left, but still some jackass is on my bumper, but too lazy to pass. You think, maybe they're waiting for the next exit, but no they whizz right by it, figure you should move or start speeding 20 - 30 k over for their convenience (which you can't do anyway cos someone is a few car lengths ahead of you.) WTF is wrong w/ the passing lanes?

Try driving in Quebec!
I've tried, many many times (lived there for a while). Driving in Quebec is actually much better than in Ontario. I'm guessing the main reason being that drivers there are more aggressive on the road. Unfortunately drivers in Ontario tend to be less assertive and more insecure. This makes them much more dangerous on the road. By not stating clearly their intentions while driving and confusing others around them, they make driving here that much more infuriating. And no, I'm not rooting for Quebec, far from it.

Having driven on all continents, I noticed something very specific to Ontario. That little detail drives me absolutely crazy. Anywhere esle in the world when you see an emergency vehicule coming up behind you with lights flashing, you will maintain constant speed (maybe slow down a little) and change into the right lane in order to let it pass. Notice the emphasis on MAINTAIN CONSTANT SPEED. This is important in order to keep everybody around you safe (especially on the hwy). For some reason most drivers in Ontario when in such situation will slam on their brakes and come to a dead stop, try to slowly go in the right lane and again stop completely. WHY???? Is this written somewhere into Ontario law? Because if it is, it needs to be changed ASAP. It is extremely dangerous!!!!

Right here. But wish I was there!
Pull to the right and STOP. It's the law!

From the Ontario Department of Transportation's website:

Watch for Emergency Vehicles

Everyday, police fire and ambulance vehicles respond to urgent calls. Precious time lost getting there could mean the difference between life and death.
Reacting to an approaching emergency vehicle - WHAT TO DO

On a multi-lane highway (max. 100km/h speed limit)

Slow down, signal and move to the right. If possible, pull as close as you can to the right side of the roadway and stop when safe to do so. Do not move onto the shoulder.

On a two-lane road

Signal and move to the right. Pull as close as possible to the right edge of the road, clear of any intersection, and stop.

On a one-way street

Signal and pull to the right or the left side of the street, clear of any intersection, and stop.

At intersections

Traffic in an intersection or approaching from all directions must yield to an emergency vehicle until it passes through the intersection. Never block the intersection. Do not make a left turn if an emergency vehicle is approaching from behind. In this situation, the motorist should proceed straight through the intersection, then pull to the right and stop.
Take lights and sirens seriously. Pull to the right and stop. It’s the law.

Thanx mediaguy. Now it all makes sense. I'm stunned that we're made to obey a law that actually puts us in danger. Whoever drafted this law probably doesn't even have a driving license cause you have to have close to zero driving experience to believe even for a second that this can make roads any safer...

I like to blame modern cars actually.
So many have ABS and because of that people just think that the cars can "stop on a dime" that they think they are safe if they ram their car up your ass. Its part of why I try to avoid Toronto at all costs.
The other issue is that people have just don't respect the road anymore....

1. People with road rage, should stop driving period!
2. Remember the 3 second rule or wheels of the car ahead of you for space.
3. Signal and check blindspots.
4. No pets on your lap while driving, it's called crowding the driver.
5. No road head! Well maybe;)
6. Slow down in bad weather.
7. Keep flow with traffic, right lane is driving lane, middle lane is driving lane, left lane is for passing.
8. Don't drive if you're too tired, or take rest breaks on long drives. Every 2 hours is suggested.
9. Tailgaters, I slow down intentionally for them!
10. Don't drink and drive
11. Leave earlier and expect traffic delays.
12. Lack of planning on your part, doesn't constitute an emergency on mine, so slow down!
13. Don't flick your highbeams! When someone does it to me, I just flip the mirror up, I'll pull over when I get ahead of the real slowpokes!

1,2,3,4,5,6,8,10,11,12, and 13 I agree with
7 - while I agree that this would make smooth flow, legally only the right lane is the driving lane, the other lanes are for passing
9 - can understand the temptation, but you're only making things worse.

No changing lanes while turning. From the left lane to the left lane. From the curb lane to the curb lane. From the middle lane to the middle lane. Make the turn, then, when traffic permits, signal and make the lane change.

Agreed, this is what you're legally supposed to be doing anyways.
