The exterior is in mint condition, it looks like a brand new car, and even though it's an '05 car, the design still looks modern, I look at the new '13 cars from different car brands and designs really haven't changed that much at all in 8 years. If someone didn't know much about car models I'm sure they wouldn't be able to tell the difference between my car and a brand new one based on looks, condition and design alone.

The problem with going to Mazda is they charge 150 just to diagnose the problem, whereas if I go to Mister Transmission they supposedly diagnose the problem for free. Also, I read on their site that they don't recommend ever doing a flush, they're the experts, supposedly.
This is a common problem with the 04/05 mazdas. its an easy fix, but if you don't go to mazda then no one else will even know about it.
mr transmission will try to rebuild your transmission vs mazda doing a simple upgrade

your money, your choice

There could be internal damage already due to the banging. But flush the fluid, all of it included the fluid in the torque converter which requires a flushing mahine. Then reset the vehicle's KAM (keep alive) memory by disconnecting the neg batt terminal and turning ON the headlamps for about 30 seconds. This will clear all the learn adapative values (including shift points, etc.) Then road test and hope for the best.
