The KD thread is good but seems Mr Noodle deserves its own thread!

I don’t have much to offer, all I do is quickly boil and drain the noodles, the flavour mix powder to the noodles and stir. I don’t eat it as a soup.

Sometimes I will put a bit of sesame seed oil in it.

I remember watching some TV or YouTube documentary on prison in mate, gourmet hacks, and there were a lot of them based on Ramen noodles.

What do y’alls do? Anything special?

Mine takes a bit of effort but I like doing it cause it's not a big clean up job and I enjoy chopping up veggies.

I'll boil the noodles and toss them in a strainer with a hint of sesame seed oil. While in another bigger pot I'll have whatever chopped up veggies I want in it since you can stick with 2 or 3 things or more. Stir fry the veggies in oil with salt/pepper and whatever spices (I stopped using the spice packs years ago). Then toss in the noodles and stir for a min or two and you're done. I stick with soya sauce and oyster sauce which is the kicker. I use to only use soya sauce, but someone recommend a bit of oyster and it makes a diff. I haven't explored much of the premade stir fry sauces in jars, but they could be good also. If I have it at times I'll top if up with spring onions chopped up or something or a bit of cilantro if you like that. Takes about 20mins or so to cook especially if you're dealing with harder veggies and I like cooking them slowly. Otherwise I could do it in 5 or 10 mins.

It's 2 pots to clean and one plate and the cutting board and knife with seconds left over if you use 2 packs of the Mr Noodles. If I'm in the mood in another small pot I'll cook up shrimp or chicken (chopped up pieces) and toss it in too. I'm not a big meal eater and I like smaller portions while drinking usually water. Not Asian, but generally a lot of thin Asians have a similar mentality.

I've seen a few inmate clips here or there, but I don't like adding much of that stuff into my meals. YMMV.

What you do is fine too since the oil gives it great flavour. Personally it depends on the person's time and if they like to cook a bit here or there.

I have been doing this for a very long time now. I usually throw some chicken for more protein but in a pinch it’s amazing 😊

I use Indomie.
I think it is better than Mr. Noodle.
My usual recipe is, Olive oil, garlic sliced, onion finely chopped, and sautee it till its caramalized a bit.
Then I throw in what I have. I add some eggs, bacon, chicken, green peas etc.
Not all of them at once. Whatever I have or a combo of things that I have lying around.
I season it with the Indomie seasoning, some everglades all purpose seasoning and cook the noodles separately.
Then I throw the noodles in and mix everything together, and taste for salt.
Mix in some green onion.
I serve it in a bowl with Abokichi Okazu Miso on top (curry, chili or spicy chili all work).
Come to think of it, I have some eggs and green peas lying around.
I might do this tonight. :)

I haven't explored miso yet, but I'll try some next time. I like kimchi from a certain place, but otherwise the other two I tried from a grocery chain I found were meh. And yes I add ginger/garlic and sometimes instead of sauces I'll add turmeric with a few other things and a bit of water to make it saucy.

THIS is a terrific tip. I’m going to try it!

My hack is far less impressive, some sliced garlic, green onions sliced on a bias (cause I’m fancy), some franks red hot and left over rotisserie chicken. Maybe even an egg tossed in for good measure and a few shakings of MSG, but your idea sounds way better, bud.

It's quite flavourful! I use to also at times use hot sauce, but I switched to siracha instead of Frank's and I find it great. Just explore or stick to whatever you like. Sometimes I'd just put the hot sauce on top of the stuff on the plate or put it in the pot near the end and mix it up. I don't always get into hot sauce lol. Just a dash of sesame oil on the noodles is a lot and I use olive oil for the veggies. Once you add in the noodles and sauces you could also add a bit of water too so some evaporates so it's got a better saucy texture on it. I stick with 1 tbsp of oyster sauce along with like 3 or 4 tbsp of soy. I've never cooked with MSG yet. Good luck man!

I do the following.

Place soup packet in two and one half cups of water(I use the more expensive noodles brand). Add in some onion, chopped carrots, chopped celery, a few mushrooms, some chopped red pepper. Add in some powdered garlic, lemon peeper and oregano. All portioned sized to one person. Let boil until veg is partially cooked. Add in some left over meat. I save up bits and pieces from large dinners and freeze them for this. Let go another 5 minutes. Then add the noodles for three minutes.

Done. Eat the whole thing or leave some salty broth behind. Your choice. As for seasoning Add whatever else you like. Sometimes I add cayenne pepper too.

One pot, one bowl(eating), one board to clean.

When we don't finish the $7.99 rotisserie chicken from Costco. I will always cut up pieces and add it as protein to my pack of chicken flavour instant ramen noodles. Other proteins like shrimp and beef specifically go with that particular flavour of instant noodles.Sometimes if I'm not that lazy, I'll add some vegetables. ;) LOL

After I drain off the water I add a can of smoked oysters or mussels, including the oil, and some sliced green onion along with the flavour pack. I don’t like the quick ramen as a soup so I usually drain out 95% of the water before I flavour it. That leaves enough moisture to coat the noodles nicely mixed with the oil.

Thanks for the tip GeeBee just bought some smoked mussels I'm going to make this dish. I'm using Korean Gochujang Sauce instead of the flavour pack. Mixing in some maple syrup to cut the heat. Never tried it before with smoked mussels it might work.

One tip. Mix in the Gochujang sauce and syrup (nice idea btw) before you add the mussels. They’re pretty delicate and over stirring can break them up too easily.

I've eaten them too, they're very convenient. Don't anymore because they're very unhealthy. But I love this brand it tastes like shrimp.

I've had those here or there years ago. If I get a craving I get a few in a year. I don't live my life super healthy; I just balance it out.
