Moving Co. Needed

Hello Members:

You did me right with the window replacement recommendations and now I need recommendations for a good moving co. I've always moved myself before but I have expensive furniture to move this time and don't want it damaged. It's for the move from Woodbridge to Oakville in August. Fire away!

Thank You,
Miss Sophia Sinclair

I downsized to a condo a year and a half ago. I was pretty much on my own and my sister recommended a company called Red Coats.

They were outstanding. They will pack and unpack everything for you. They organize your wardrobe and kitchen, unhook and rehook your computer and stereo. They discard whatever you don't want and occasionally they can sell some stuff for you or make donations to charities with tax receipts. As well, they are super careful moving all your furniture, expensive or not.

Shockingly, THEY ARE NOT CHEAP. No harm in getting an estimate.

I used Red Coats Moving last year for my move. Nothing but great things to say about them.

I used to think blogto.com was getting paid to post their blogs, but I find their picks are usually spot on

Andy's Moving Company tel:(416) 631-6980 Reliable and honest. I used him to move my stuff into storage and then to my parents house. When my new house was ready, he moved us again from my parents house and the stuff in storage into my new house. Didn't damage any of my furniture. Only thing is I don't remember getting any paper work. He came by, took a look at my stuff, gave a quote and we confirmed a date and a time. Everything was done on a handshake and he didn't charge extra like some horror stories you see on the news where people get there things held up for ransom unless they paid more money. My friends and I have used these guys many times over the past 15 years and never had any issues.

i didnt like their service i paid for three movers but one of them was not cut out for the work and kept taking breaks while the other two were beasts. they dinged up a table and scratched my 4000 dollar mattress.

in the end the 1500 bill became 1300. meh

OMG...it could be expensive having you around as a neighbour
Maybe I should start a FFP. Welcome to Derrière Airlines! Try saying that three times fast. If you can pass that tongue twisting test you'll receive brownie points to be used in the pink canoe cockpit or elsewhere.

If you are a cat like me, the you do not like it when people mess with your stuff or shit in your box. A friend of mine was moving last year and I told her that if I was moving I would not allow movers to load up all my stuff and then be at their mercy. There have been occasions where movers arrive at the new location and then ask for up charges before they unload. If you do not pay up they take your stuff away. ( at your expense for transportation and storage )
My solution was to box up all your stuff and load it into a Pods box.

You hire some kids to move all your stuff into the Pods box delivered it to the new address and the kids take all the boxes into the new place. Mark all the items and boxes L,K or B. ( living room, bedroom and Kitchen ) At the new place the items will be deposited in the appropriate room. We moved her at 1/3 the cost of a regular mover and without the hassles.
