I'm bringing this to the attention of this audience as I am certain it is a film that will be of interest.
Paying For It is an adaptation of a graphic novel by Chester Brown based on his experiences paying for sex in Toronto starting in the 90s. Of particular interest to people here would be the credit he gives to TERB as a source of information and reviews!
The film is very well done, directed by Sook Yin Lee (Brown's ex-girlfriend, who is represented as a key character in the film). Minor changes were made to the details as outlined in the graphic novel for dramatic purposes, but the overall intent and philosophy remain the same: paying for sex is something that should not be disparaged or illegal.
I was fortunate to see it in Cambridge, with Brown in attendance. There was a very engaged audience question session after the film. It's currently doing the rounds of local film festivals and independent theatres (the next local place it will be playing is probably the Bookshelf in Guelph - no date yet). Crave partially funded the film, so I expect it will show up there at some point.
