Just got a new pc. That being said I don't want to screw it up just yet. I want to know a good download site to use to make movies for up at the cottage or on the boat to keep the wee ones from getting bored. There is some problem with itunes right now (for me anyhow) and I am leaving shortly to get out of the city. I don't care if I have to pay something...I don't want a crappy free download that could screw up my pc with a bunch of other junk. Any information is appreciated.

TYIA:)

you dont really have much choice if you want legal downloads....there are however a lot of very good quality alternatives.
my itunes went back up,although a friend of mine said you can't burn the dvd that you download, you can only play it on that pc.

Rhapsody is one I saw a commercial for that's about all i know of so any info you may have woulld be great. Thanks

Torrents are the way to go, unless you want to learn newsgroups.
Besides mininova or pirate bay http://btjunkie.org is another good source.

OR,

you could visit one of those Chinese shopping centres at Steeles and Kennedy where you can buy CDs at 8 for $20.00. It's cheap and faster than downloading from torrents. Also, if you have Rogers then downloading might push you up to the new 'limit'.

I P-Mall would probably be your best bet and less time consuming. Just ask them about the quality web/dvd, and they'll tell you. Sometimes you mite get 1 cuz of bad cd or the likes, but for a couple bucks, no big deal right.

I've never used the pay site with unlimited download, but a friend of my ex uses that thing, and downloads movies/shows all the time, suppose to be good. I would suggest maybe google a site name you're interested in and see if theres any comments bad/good, on that site from other users.

I have no plan of using limewire anymore. My HD just completely died on me on the weekend, which i would have to say limewire had a hand in. Though i'm no expert on these things.
Like others, i would suggest sticking with torrents, or simply goto Pmall

Remember, depending on your ISP provider, you don't have unlimited downloads. Rogers for example now has limits.

Limewire is great for music mostly.

eMule is great for those hard to find things but is slow.

Torrents is the way to go. But, its not the downloads you should worry about, but rather the conversion learning curve. Unless you're gonna be playing the movies on your computer, you need to convert your basic AVI / DIVX movie to the DVD format.

Pacific Mall is easy easy easy. However, the quality of their movies is hit or miss.

Gee.. so many options. Maybe I should setup a training class!

the easiest way would be simply rent a dvd and then make a copy of it.

Just buy a DVD player that supports Divx. They are around 50 bucks! You can usually burn 5 movies on one DVD.
