Since this happened so long ago, is there a reason why this number has not repeated or exceeded since? I would think the fraternity is continuously increasing. Or are we just logging on at different times.
Bet its a function of how we log on versus the good old days. In the old days you had to use a computer, now you can log on anywhere, check for a few seconds then log off...
Might have been during a denial-of-service attack - on another board their high-water mark was during DOS.
Too far in the past to remember if there was a correlation with an attack.
Keeping the server busy with attempted logins was/is a method for doing this.
