As great as Bobby Orr was going end to end, I have to say that Gilbert Perreault was the most exciting to watch going coast to coast.

I recall Tim Horton, on one of his few end to end rushes, go from behind Johnny Bower's net to the other end and score. It was circa 1967. He was not fast, he was not subtle. He skated at his deliberate plodding pace and bowled over the entire opposition team. He was not a figure skater or a roadrunner. He was a bulldozer. It was the best rush I had ever seen.

Once in a while, you will see the game on Leafs TV and relive that moment. RIP Tim.

Agree. Every single time Perrault got the puck in his own zone he was a threat to take it all the way.

How can I forget about Denis Savard, he was exciting to watch also!

He did the Spinarama better than Orr and Serge Savard.

Here are some Perrault highlights. You can skip the sappy beginning and start around 1:15.

Maybe not the prototypical coast to coast type because he was a winger, but not many were as exciting to watch as Pavel Bure. The speed he generated in the neutral zone and his shiftiness and stick handling ability were really something to behold.

Guy Lafleur, without a helmet and his blond hair flying in the air, was the most exciting going coast to coast.
Lafleur wore a helmet his first couple seasons in the NHL, he struggled offensively. He then went helmetless and became a super star.

Nice. Agreed. The game was slower in the 70s but Perreault was a notch faster than almost all...
