Just finished reading an old Toronto Star Wheels article with the female writer had an Enzo for the day and she took it to the supermarket.

For the purpose of this poll, we'll keep it to well-known production exotic sports car brands capable of 0-60 mph in < 6 sec.

If you had keys to such sports car for 24hrs, what would you do?

From a practical point of view, if I had to pay, I'd take the new Z06 Corvette with 505 hp.

Some of those cars you would worry too much about where you leave it. I own a Grand National, and even though it is a $25,000 car, too many people are always eyeing it. Makes it hard to park sometimes and leave for extended periods of time because of theft. I had a friend who had one stolen out of his garage. It turned out to be a guy who came by to look for parts.

The new Z06 is only a little different in looks than the regular Corvette, but has an extra 100 hp.

Z06 has a fixed panel, so more rigidity and no roof leaks. Like the all modern cars, it is extremely easy to drive, and is the best bang for the buck on the market right now.

I own a Porsche944 which I bought new in 1986. I used it for 2 years in Europe before shipping it here. At speeds above 180, it is the best handling car I ever owned. I would not part with it.

Though the Bugatti is now the fastest road legal vehicle I still drool over the McLaren F1.....

There was a program on the tube called the "Ultimate Cars", they did the various categories: performance, luxury, unique, innovative etc. and the McLaren won out in performance (though the Bugatti wasn't around yet when they produced the series). One thing about Mclaren, you have to be invited to own one by Mclaren, you can't just walk in and buy one. They interviewed one guy who owned one and he DID use it to get groceries lol. He said the unique seating pattern makes it easy to put groceries in and out lol.

With a top speed of 240 mph or 386 kph you gotta love it....

Yeah, I forgot about the koenig....390 kph/242 mph sweet mother of god.....that's as fast as most and faster than some, F1 cars.....put it this way: if our cops did have a helicopter even they wouldn't be able to catch you.

Not an expert on sports cars by any means but have you guys noticed the cars parked in front of the club that used to be the Bamboo Lounge on Queen West just west of Peter ST beside Lush? I think there's a silver Ferrari Enzo parked in front all the time..... I think its an Enzo but I can't be sure, do other Ferrari's have the plexiglass window so that you can see the engine?

Anyways, to answer the part about what I'd do with a car like that I'd take it for a spin on the Autobahn and then hit then pawn it off and blow the money for a wild time in Hamburg. That is assuming that Hamburg is still a booming red light district. Had to tie it in with the board. :)

I love the feeling of driving fast unfortunately these cars all require a second mortgage.... well for me anyways.

I think an interesting sub question would be what is the best "poor man's" sports car(i.e. under $100 k bonus points if it ends up being significantly less)?

Saw the same show. The 1 + 2 seat configuration is pretty hard to 'massage' your companion as you're on the road (low speed country roads of course). Ok, I prefer Auto for a reason.

Popular Sport car to North Americans

the same thing with the enzo...it's by invitation only....and if arent invited you can still buy one but only if you have all their previous anniversary cars and get letters of recommendation, provide a history of cars you have owned etc

P.S. you forgot the Koenigsegg, Zonda, Saleen S7

Didn't forget. Had to keep it to target audience, for North American crowd.

Saw number of hot cars in Europe. Make you wonder where people getting the money. Here BMW and MB are common in Suburbia while in Italy, UK and Germany the super sports cars seem to dominate. Perhaps should get my salary pay in Euros and add tons of zeros behind it.

So many good looking European and Japanese wheels overseas we don't get here.

If I had 1 for the day, take it from
Paris with a Crossant & Cafe au lait,
Frankfurt for a beer, veal for snack,
Milan for lunch Pasta & Capuccino,
Venice for early Tapas,
Transport jet to fly car, me and the hot babie to Madrid for dinner and late night party.

Of course, the roads are closed off in order for me to cover this mileage in record time. Refuel would be just too time consuming.

All this talk about super fast cars reminds me of a show I saw on TV a few months ago. Amoung other things they were showing a guy road testing a hopped up Porche on the autobaun. He's at 200+ mph in the left lane at night in the countryside. All I could think of is "Does Germany have deer". Having hit three deer in my life, I can't imagine hitting one at those speeds.

Here
Of current models, I'd take an Enzo, hands down!

But for classical looks and absolutely top performance from years gone by, give me a Ferrari Daytona Spyder... drove mine at 170 on the #11 north of Bracebridge, one day, many moons ago... that is MPH!

And for really top handling, like the Atom, give me a Ferrari Dino...

Or from really old times, give me a Talbot Lago... please!

And many thanks for those links, asn... enjoyed them tremendously!

You hit 3 deers and live to tell...you must have one luck rabbit's foot.

While driving on Calif hwy 5, saw a deer jumped over cars ahead of me, needless to say my back was soaked from incident, as life passed before my eyes. Can't say enough for Heads up driving, watched the deer speed toward the freeway. Given the distance and rate of travel, all one can do was slow down and brace for impact.

At high speed, simple thing as going over a stone or blow a tire can send car out of control. My speed restrictor is the thought of ruining passengers' life as I usually do group roadtrips.

So many fine cars, so little $$$

Love the shape of Lotus and Saleen. My taste changes with age. For a while love the look of Alfa Romeo.

The Dino & lamborghini murcielago are fine cars. The top end MB MacF with the wing doors also appealing but too old for my taste.

My eyes are also attracted to Concepts from Opel & Pegault (Fiat).
