While the Bush/Cheney administration seems hell-bent on provoking war with Iran, Mossad is right alongside them, doing all they can to provoke war with Iran!

U.S. website: Mossad killed Iranian nuclear physicist

By Yossi Melman, Haaretz Correspondent

Last update - 13:55 04/02/2007

A senior nuclear physicist involved in Iran's nuclear program who died under mysterious circumstances two weeks ago was killed by the Mossad, according to a report released in a U.S. website this weekend.

The website - Stratfor.com - features intelligence and security analysis by former U.S. intelligence agents.

Professor Ardashir Hosseinpour, a world authority on electromagnetism, was until recently working on uranium enrichment at the facility in Isfahan, one of the central processing sites in Iran's nuclear program.

The physicist died January 18, but news of his death only emerged six days later in two Iranian media outlets.

A report released this weekend in Stratfor.com stated that the Mossad was behind Hosseinpour's death.

The report said the physicist died from "radioactive poisoning" as part of a Mossad effort to halt the Iranian nuclear program through "secret operations."

The site indicates that in the late 1970s and early 1980s, the Mossad was involved in the deaths of scientists involved with the Iraqi nuclear program. At least three scientists were killed in those operations.

A website of expatriate Iranian communists said that several other scientists were killed or injured in the operation to kill Hosseinpour at Isfahan, and given treatment at nearby hospitals.

The site says Iranian physicians are trying to determine the circumstances of the deaths, and believe they may have to deal with similar incidents in the future.

News of Hosseinpour's death appeared in the Al-Quds daily, published in Tehran, and in a release by the Iranian Students' News Agency.

Both news items said Hosseinpour died from "poison gas."

Radio Farda - a Persian-language station operated by the U.S. government - said several days ago that the scientist died of "smoke inhalation."

The Radio Farda report said Hosseinpour, 45, was considered an expert in the field of electromagnetism and formerly taught in the physics department at Shiraz University. He also published widely in international publications.

Hosseinpour was also recently employed by Isfahan's Malik Ashtar University of Technology. Several departments of that institution have been implicated as being involved in Iran's secret nuclear program, believed to be conducted in parallel with its official, disclosed program.

University Rector Mahdi Najad Nuri, a general in the Revolutionary Guards, was named a month ago on a UN Security Council list of people and institutions whose activity should be monitored for alleged contacts with Tehran's nuclear program.

Scientists at the Isfahan facility convert natural uranium powder to a gaseous state for transfer to the uranium enrichment plant at Natanz. There the uranium flows into hundreds of centrifuges, where it undergoes a high-speed process of enrichment.

I'm supposed to be upset about this? Rather than mere carping what do you propose should be done to assure that 1) Iran does not acquire nuclear weapons. In the even that Iran does acquire nuclear weapons that a) they will not seek to destroy the State of Israel b) they will not provide them to terrorists for use against the west.

It is also useful to remember that the Iranians have political reasons to blame anything they can on Israel, a critical person in their nuclear program dies 'he was assinated,' an outbreak of bird flu biological attack by agents of the Mossad - so forth and so on.

Could that be done by the FSB? The mo is similar to the one on ex-KGB defactor in London.

If that turns out to be Mossad job and they never acknowledge or deny in any event, that could be a tactical victory in the war against the Shia fundamentalist. The Israelis performed very badly in South Lebanon last year and failed to liquidate the head of Hizbullah, the Iranian proxy.

BTW, the Sunnis, who are no friends to Israel are equally glad to see any setback suffered by the Shia Persian and their Shia Arab proxies.

Speaking of provocation, Iran is not innocent as they are already arming, training and mentoring Meldi Army, Hizbullah and Hamas before George W. put America in the middle of this mess.

And would that be a surprise when most of Iranian's "locally manufactured" Russian-designed arms supplied to these proxies are licensed by the Chinese, who happen to be one of the biggest oil importer from Iran and largest creditor of US debts?

Interesting point. regardless of what actually happened, the Iranians get to blame the "Zionists" for something else and Israel looks stronger. I doubt either side would deny these claims.

They should have taken out Saddam the same way instead of starting a war in Iraq.
Looks like somebody from the CIA and the W team had the country spell wrong (Iraq vs. Iran) back in 2003

In private, Mossad did not see the urgency to take out Saddam since 91. They saw the Bush admin obsession to him as nothing more than payback to that SOB attempt to assessinate the Sr back in 1993 in Kuwait, with taxpayers expenses and American lives. Iraq was disfunctional back then and Saddam was playing whatever possible to buy time from implosion.

The spelling mistake is possible as he cannot even say nuclear correctly... "nukelar" he says... lmao

Now Mossad was not on Hussein's back because the CIA was pretty active in that area at that time. They have committed so many bloopers that many secret services decided not to interfere... for example the operation called "silver bullet" supposed to flip every close guard from Saddam's special service. It worked until the day a guy was caught at the border with one of the big secured satellite PCs the CIA had provided. Saddam listened to the conversations and a few weeks later killed all the moles and friends of the CIA... oops...

Now who else besides the CIA could do that to Iran? I guess the Mossad is the only answer because, moreover, they really don't seem to care even if the international press accuses them.

Lol now Amadinejad is going to play the victim as he had so gladly organized a free tour to his new radioactive resort... "Pooorrr meee, look at vat they do to my zientists"

Mossad has been busy

Looks like 'someone' has been hard at work at concocting a 'Gulf of Tonkin' type incident as a pretext for getting the US to attack Iran.....:(

Has Israel, opps I mean Mossad, opps... I mean has Al Qaeda (nudge nudge wink wink) already smuggled a nuclear weapon into the US?

ISRAELI EMBASSY IN NYC A RADIATION HOT SPOT

by x Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006 at 5:05 PM
Feds surveyed NYC for radiation, found tainted park, Embassy

WASHINGTON -- Anti-terrorism officials conducted a helicopter survey of
New York City's radiation sources in preparation for a so-called "dirty
bomb" attack - and discovered a Staten Island park with dangerously high
levels of radium, a new report found.

Federal authorities found 80 unexpected "hot spots" around New York
City, according to the Government Accountability Office, the
investigative arm of Congress.

The GAO report released Thursday details a previously undisclosed aerial
anti-terrorism program in New York City, one which may be extended to
other cities worried about the possible release of radioactive material
by terrorists.

The report does not identify which city park had the contaminated soil,
but NYPD officials said it was in Gateway National Park in Staten
Island. The site was closed, and New York has requested federal money to
do a citywide aerial survey every year to update the information.

By creating a map of the city's radiation sources, city officials hope
to be able to respond more quickly in the event of a dirty bomb attack,
know exactly which streets are contaminated and get civilians away.

New York is the first and only U.S. city to conduct a complete aerial
radiological survey, having paid the U.S. Department of Energy $800,000
for the 2005 study.

The helicopters picked up sources of low-level radiation from expected
places, like granite statues and medical isotopes at hospitals, but it
also found dozens of other sources of unexpected radioactivity, the GAO
report found.

"NYPD officials indicated that the survey was tremendously valuable
because it identified more than 80 locations with radiological sources
that required further investigation to determine their risk," the report
said.

At the Staten Island park, sensors detected large quantities of radium
in the soil. Long-term exposure to radium increases the risk of
developing lymphoma, bone cancer and leukemia.

National Park Service spokesman Brian Feeney said the area is a one-acre
piece of the 570-acre Great Kills Park, which is part of the larger
Gateway park.

Feeney said experts assured them after the August 2005 study that the
area posed no public health risk, and said visitors do not go into that
area anyway because of dense vegetation. He did not know if any warnings
had been placed around the site.

The radiation apparently comes from "some piece of industrial equipment,
pieces of old rusty metal. Whatever this equipment used to do, it picked
up radioactivity," he said.

"We keep people out of that area. It's a non-accessible area of the
park, no one can get in there," said Feeney. "There's no health hazard
now, there was never a health hazard to the public."

He said the agency has applied to the Department of Energy for funding
to further survey the site.

Staten Island's congressman, Rep. Vito Fossella, said the contamination
was a surprise to him and residents near the park, and he demanded more
information.

"It is essential for the government to act immediately to fully
understand the extent of the contamination," said Fossella, who was
trying to arrange a meeting Friday with federal and city officials to
discuss further testing and possible removal of the contaminated soil.

One alleged radiation hot spot on Manhattan's east side has the
potential for becoming a political hot spot: A strong radiation spike
from the area of the Israeli Embassy. Officials would not comment on why
they thought that particular area allegedly showed such a stunning peak
in radiation.

The aerial survey is designed to help local officials react more quickly
in the event of terrorists detonating a "dirty bomb" that releases
radioactive material into the air. With the survey, police may be able
to pinpoint the exact source of radiation by comparing new readings to
their pre-existing "radiation map" of the area.

NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said the department wanted a record of the
city's naturally occurring and other "radiological signatures" to
compare with periodic readings it does to detect for dirty bombs or
other nuclear devices.

"It gives us a baseline so we can pick up any anomalies," he said.

New York City is the only major city to conduct a full-scale Aerial
Background Radiation Survey to identify "hot spots," though such work
has been done in the nation's capitol, according to the report.

The GAO found neither the Department of Energy nor the Department of
Homeland Security believe they are required to conduct such radiation
mapping, though the investigators said there were "significant benefits"
to surveys in other urban areas.

Homeland Security officials agreed that they should study the cost and
effectiveness of expanded radiation mapping in additional cities.

Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., called the report further proof the
federal government is not doing enough to help cities guard against
terrorism.

The hot spot mapping initiative "should also be shared with cities
across the country, not mothballed because the Homeland Security
Department doesn't want to put up the money," Schumer said.

The GAO report also found the Department of Energy may need to beef up
security at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada and Andrews Air Force Base
in Maryland because those sites hold key national assets for responding
to a radiological or nuclear attack.

Specialized quick-response teams and equipment are concentrated at those
two sites, and a successful attack against either could leave one
section of the country with limited capacity to respond to a subsequent
strike with radioactive weapons, the GAO said.

The agency's associate administrator, Michael C. Kane, was adamant the
sites are safe.

"We categorically reject the contention that physical security at two of
our facilities may not be sufficient for protecting against terrorist
attacks," Kane wrote.

It sounds like The Protocols of the Elders of Zion is still a popular work.

It is quite amazing what woody takes from the article. Amazing at how confusing he finds his own mind that is. Israel is mentioned in one sentance yet it confirms his belief that the Israelis oops, Mossad oops must be plotting some kind of evil.

I would also be interested to know how sensitive the equipment is and what a "hot spot" means.

I also find it really strange that this report out of Washington about a situation in NYC is only reported by an "independent" news source (read blog) and no authors name is given. Judging by the comments left it seems to be a Jewish conspiracy hotspot.

The gentleman here who is obsessed in his belief that GW is truly a devil (not dissimilar from the opinions of David Icke who has been banned from Canada for promoting hate) is now trying to concoct a story that Israel has a dirty bomb in the USA. Returning to the original point of this thread, only a complete fool would subscribe to the notion that Israel had the ability to kill the Iranian scientist or would even select to do him in, considering the far more important targets out there. Now, extrapolating from the second article in such a manner, reminiscent of the hoax that led to the US bombing of Khartoum, truly illustrates the fanatically irrational mentality that exists among a few out there.
