Fortunately, my dream house is about 80 years old, ugly as sin (but beautiful under the 70s makeover) and 80,000 bucks. Hopefully the CRA will not see that as beyond my means, even if my income for last year was limited for the first 8 months of it.infernis said:Getting a mortgage should not be the problem, its dealing with the tax part that comes after...
Dream house and no proof of income, = Audit Target...
Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. I was feeling very lost, since this is a brand new experience, and found myself wishing I knew someone who had lots of experience with money. Then it clicked: the guys who've been providing *my* income for the last four months. And you have all been incredibly helpful. I will use all of this information to see if I can get this house before it sells. Thanks so so so much!
About the taxes: I'm not about to burst into song over it, but I enjoy a variety of public services that I don't want to give up and that I think everyone is entitled to, regardless of income. I have a separate savings account for my tax money, so I am prepared. If all our MPPs were paid no more than nurses, I'd celebrate lower taxes and better health care along with the rest of you, but until then, I just suck it up and pay.
