Saw the video from a lady that lived in a nearby condominium building. But the news outlets edited out the fatal moments. Very sad, and have to wait until tomorrow afternoon for the update as to the number of people killed as well as motive of this individual who has been taken into custody. Apparently the cops are trying to touch base with the next of kin of the victims.

There is a thread started earlier about this in the Politics Forum. So, what happened?
1) Terrorism
2) Driver suffered a medical episode
3) Mechanical problem with car

There are reports that police shot at the car to try and stop it.
1) Was the police department "defunded: so didn't have sufficient manpower or equipment?

I think an 18 year old boy with an AR-15 could have stopped that car in its tracks by shooting out the tires.

Heard a radio interview from a local reporter yesterday. The guy had just been arrested and released from jail within the week. He was involved in altercation in a park…. He got in his car to flee. It’s unknown if he was high, or impaired… but it appears his motivation was to get away, and avoid police again as he was facing serious jail time. He likely did not anticipate the parade. He likely realized that was also a fuck up and continued trying to flee.

it appears, if that reporter is correct, that the motivation was senseless self preservation.
