I just want to know...

How many people believe we have been to the moon and how many believe the Illuminati fabricated the 1968 Lunar landing...

So Joe...my question is why haven't we been back?

Why does Bush say we'd now have trouble getting past the Van Allen Belt to get to Mars...when, supposedly, we've been past said belt to land on the Moon?

Wasn't it just a question of economics?
The previous administrations felt that any manned trip to the moon or beyound would cost too much and the actual benefits would not have been close to being worth it.

Bush is an idiot. I'm sure what he was supposed to say was scripted but he screwed that up and couldn't remember his lines.

Why haven't we been back ? there's nothing on the moon. collect rocks, thats it.

too expensive to establish any kind of base there.

Then what was it NASA was blacking out on the Mars photos?..I'm thinking Chinese flag, but I could be wrong.

Seems to me that scientists would have a lot more access to space data from Lunar instruments than from even satalites...that would be my first reason for returning to the moon.

Speaking of the Chinese;
In the New York Times today; there was an article about possible co-operation between the US and China in regards to space exploration.
The article mentioned the Chinese were interested in excavating minerals and other space substances. They mentioned something called Helium-3 (I think) and that it could be used for reactors. (Something like that; unfortuantly I just skimmed over the article).

It has been suggested that the Chinese are planning an invasion of the "fat cat" Americans...understand that this is your extreme conspiracy theorists who have suggested this, though.

Conspiracy or not...they better watch this one.

I can't believe anybody would think it was fake. Oh and yes the earth is flat.

I say forget the moon go for mars much more interesting.

And develop new propulsion systems the shuttle is old, outdated,
and slow . It is like a Model T , get with it NASA

I know no man will ever land on my moon!

(_!_)

How do you start a poll? I checked the FAQ but there is no mention of polls.

Thanks.

I heard Buzz knocked him on his ass.
Not bad for an old guy.
I would have done the same if some prick badgered me like that.

Mankind must move out into space, and the moon is a logical first step. Construct a base there and then move outward. If the human race is to survive, we must spread out. The Earth will not last forever, and having "all your eggs in one basket" has never been a good idea.

Mr. Bear,

Actually, your "earth is flat" example is more to their point.... There was a time when the masses believed that the Earth was "flat", because that was what they were told (Church), despite what science said to the contrary (Astronomy). Now, the masses largely believe that man has been on the moon, because that was what they were told (Government), despite what science said to the contrary (Physics).

Believe what you choose, but think twice about calling into question those who do not accept what they are "told" from a government who were (definately at the time, and arguably even now are) more than a little callous with "truth"... the vast majority of the disbelievers I know are highly educated in related fields, and they make a very compelling case....

Best regards,

F.

Wasn't Tricky Dicky president at the time?

So Joe...my question is why haven't we been back?

We haven't gone back because there's no incentive to do so until now. The reason the US went to the moon in the first place was to beat the Russians to it and assert themselves as the leaders in space.

Now that the Chinese have made their intentions know to land on the moon, the US is now ramping up the space exploration once again. We have a new space race. Establishing a base on the moon will establish the US as the unchallenged leaders in space.

One question; does landing on the moon give the landing country a legal claim to the real estate of the moon? Does the US actually own the landing sites? By building a permanent base on the moon give them squatters rights? I guess that was more than one question. :)
They will most certainly build a base near the frozen lake they found on the moon to get a source of water. The US will have a quite the bonus by making a territory out of that land on the moon. If that's the case, making a base there now when they're the only country with the resources to do so would be a really smart thing to do.

There will always be conspiracy theories. I suppose we should always maintain a healthy scepticism. I believe the moon mission was not a hoax.

And you live a rich fantasy life. Not only would it be impossible to keep it a secret, but many of the fairy tales told by those people who say it was impossible are just not true. The Van Allen belt is no more dangerous to a human than a micro wave oven - proper shielding and your fine - yes a solar flare could destoy all the electronics on the ship but they took the chance. The fact that you can't see stars in the photos taken on the surface is caused by the same reason you can't see stars during the daytime here - GLARE.
It really bothers me that some silly and ignorant people want to deminish the accomplishments of Armstrong, Aldrin and Collins - it took guts to do what they did and will go down as one of the greatest achievements of man. To the see the danger they faced look at what has happened to the robot exploration of Mars - two crashed and burned - one had a mechanical failure.
I will bet you Armstrong and company would look at the technology available today and reflect on what they did was foolhardy but wouldn't change a thing.

Ummmmmmm BB,

Once again your personal predjudice rears its ugly head. When you qoute me you should qoute me in entirity and not out of contex, to suit your purpose.

Here is what I said:
