I always thought "modern art" was a joke and a monkey could do it. Guess what? I was watching CTV NEWS last night and they featured a monkey painting "modern art" which sells for upward of $400 per painting at an art gallery. That monket pays for his own food and lodging. Hee, hee, hee.

What I don't understand is why some paintings sell for $100 million? It's only a painting. You can't eat it and it certainly can't perform BBBJCIMSW.

artists in canada are petitioning to change the copyright law so that they get a share of the proceeds whenever one of their paintings are sold. so if it is sold ten time, they get paid a percentage each time.

There was an article in the Star yesterday which showed two pieces of abstract art beside eachother, one done by the monkey and the other done by a famous artist that costs thousands of dollars. They both looked the same to me, lol, so I decided to ask a few people which one they preferred and hid the names of the painters of each one and most people picked the monkey's artwork, lmao. Proves my theory that I have no clue what people see in modern art, I'm a tradionalist when it comes to art. I think I'll go and buy some canvas, paint and frame and then close my eyes and just throw some paint against the canvas with various colours, run my brushes and hands throughout the canvas and see what develops. Maybe I can make a buck or two on kijiji.
