I went to a very popular buffet restaurant this weekend.......big place, clean, nice staff but the people dining there have got to be the rudest and most inconsiderate a-holes ever!! Its like a herd of cows stampeding to the trough!!

Have some order and some common sense poeple, the food isn't going anywhere.....be courtious and patient for cris' sake!!! Kids running everywhere, old ladies using their elbows to knock you out of the way, it was absolutely ridiculous to the point that I lost my appetite. I was knocked out of the way by a pregnant woman, my toe was stepped on by this screaming kid running through everyone and I had a serving spoon literally pulled from my hand by an old lady!!

If I wasn't such a nice guy I would have levelled them all!! Nothing against the restaurant itself, but I don't think I will ever go to another buffet again!! My blood is boiling again just thinking about it.

Sounds like you have never been to a busy buffet before.

How were you dressed? I find wearing a good tux to a buffet restaurant sets the tone for everyone.

I used to, back in my teen years. I just keep thinking of all the people coughing and sneezing all over the food......not to mention all the people who don't wash their hands after using the washroom and picking up a serving spoon for a helping of rice. It just doesn't appeal to me much, however, I was convinced to try this place out this weekend.......first and last time!!

Nothing against the restaurant, the place was clean and the food looked really good, I just have a problem with the people not being able to control themselves.

I hear you. I have not been to a buffet in years for the same reasons you mentioned. The way I look at it now is, if I can afford $300 to visit a SP, I can afford a few more dollars for a better restaurant experience.

Buffet restaurants and a good dining experience are mutally exclusive. The only buffet that are worth going to are lunch buffets at some indian restaurants because most indian curries, unlike almost any other kind of food, taste better the longer you simmer them.

While you keep saying "nothing against the restaurant", has it not occurred to you that perhaps the host/hostess should be requiring basic common decency of all patrons? I would say what you endured is certainly something against the restaurant.

And on top of all the other complaints, I tend to eat more than I would at a regular restaurant. Something to avoid.

LOL Sometimes, you could almost hear the rumbling.

That's one of the reasons I go to Frankie Tomatto's - good food and service, and I have never witnessed a "herd of cows".

Yes Frankie Tomattos is a good restaurant , great calamari.

Ok I disagree with all the other travesties you experienced but ya can't blame the pregnant lady. The hormones are out of control and all we can think about 24/7 is food. It is seriously out of our control and we cannot be held responsible. LOL

BTW if an old lady had taken a serving spoon directly out of my hand I would have snatched the damn thng right back and told her she had better wait her damn turn unless she wanted to die today. ;)

if a pregnant woman knocked you out of the way maybe you should have let her go first . I have been to the M ........ many many times and never once did I have an old lady use her elbows to knock me out of the way , nor has anyone pulled a spoon from my hand . Maybe you were one of these people who stand in front of one dish for 10 minutes . I certainly don't think your experience is typical at least I have never had it happen to me in the many times I have been.

A new Italian Buffet opened near me recently so I thought I'd try it out for lunch. Big mistake. Price was very reasonable, but food was just barely acceptable. The one thing I noticed was that all the really fat women who are normally in the fast food drive thru's (the ones who get the jumbo drinks, make sure they have loads of condiments, and are usually smoking a cigarette while they are ordering) were at this buffet with their kids. It was mayhem. I was in the pizza line when one of them bumped me out of the way with her fat ass. It was one of those asses that are so big it looked like there was a shelf between the top of her ass and her back that was big enough to put a set of encyclopedias on.
Generally I find that most buffet restaraunts suck. I have found some good Chinese ones though.

If she was in the line or even if I saw her coming at all, I would definitely let her in. I am always one to give up a seat or hold a door open, I try to treat others as I would like to be treated myself. In the same regard, I would not "stand in front of one dish for 10 minutes" as I can understand how annoying that is.

Assumptions lead to no where, if you have a question, ask. Don't try to make me look like an ass.

I apologize if you think I was trying to make you look like an ass . My main point though is that I never experienced any of what you descibed in the many many times I have been to that famous chinese buffet so it makes me wonder how come all these things happened to you in 1 visit.

Frankie Tomatto's is a a food additive laced shithole. First and only time I got serious food poisoning plus reaction to something resulting in phenomenally itchy welts on interesting body places.

In general, buffet's = shitty food; they replace quality with quantity and the "novelty".

But, they are wonderful if you have a family member with alzheimer's or other dementia as menu comprehension isn't needed, all the selections are visual, and food is primeval.

Depends what kind of place you go for a buffet but the Mandarin roast beef , wings , shrimp , spare ribs are good quality . Have you ever had their roast beef ? The price of $ 22 can't be beat considering the food is good quality , you also get dessert plus fresh oranges pineapple etc . If you want to pay $ 100 a plate ok but you still won't get fresh fruit unless you pay extra.

Most buffet places are not all that great. If there are no food shields in place I wont eat there period. Of all the buffet places I've been to, I would say Mandarian is the best of them. Still not enough to make me visit more than once or twice a year.

One exception, the Sandals resort in Jamaica that I stayed at a couple of weeks back. Everything was fresh and moving fast in one of their restaurants that was buffet style.
What Sandals?

I was at Sandals Whitehouse over Christmas. Loved it!:D

I went to Mandarin Buffet downtown and it was pretty good, though pricey.

My favorite indian buffet is "Indian Flavor" on Bay st. It's very affordable too. I think it's $12.95
for Dinner buffet.
