Who does the job when the computer breaks?
When ABS first came out they were doing things hybrid at the AAA level. One game that was being called by ABS only, the system went on the fritz and was calling the middle of the zone balls and pitches more than a foot outside strikes. A week or so later the challenge system was ruled to be the better system.

The impure does more than just calling balls and strikes (foul tips, balks, interference, etc). Might as well make them work for their money.
I've noticed an improvement with the umpiring this season. They are getting more calls right then wrong it seems than in the past.
