To heck with the WC I'm rooting for Tampa to get the division, they are 6.5 games behind the yanks now, and have 7 games against them to play,

And as the Yanks have 3 games to play against the Red Sox , that can only help their cause, be it for division or WC

Baltimore wins game 1.

Red Sox now only 1.5 up on TB.
Red Sox are up 6-3 in 2nd game. I expect that when all is said and done they will be in the playoffs. But wow Crawford has been such a bust for them.

Yanks locked up the AL East, now they just need to secure home field over the rest of the AL.
I think four wins does it.

Its pretty surprising what has happened in September. Starting in September, the playoff races appeared to all be duds in every division and even the wildcard. It did not appear we would have any meaningful games the last week of the season.

But these huge slumps by Boston and Atlanta have made things interesting. I would love to see Boston go down. Boston acts as if they are the good guys and NY is the evil empire. They are both the evil empire.

Divisions are done. Only the two WCs are yet to be decided.

A Boston win or Angels loss eliminates LA.
Tampa and ST.Louis need at least one loss by Boston and Atlanta respectively to at least force a one game tie breaker.

AL WC Race
Boston ..... 89 70 .560 - ... (3) -
Tampa Bay 88 71 .553 1. ... (3) 3
LA Angels . 86 73 .541 3. ... (3) 1

NL WC Race
Atlanta ........ 89 70 .560 - ... (3) -
St. Louis ...... 88 71 .553 1. ... (3) 3

Luck of the schedule...Boston draws Baltimore, and Tampa Bay draws New York. Then again, the Yanks might be resting their regulars in preparation for the playoffs...the final series of the season will certainly be entertaining to say the least...

Baltimore swept Boston last week at Fenway, Tampa lost three out of four to NY.

Last night Baltimore won the first of three and Tampa also won the first of three.
Tampa and Boston are tied for the WC spot.

Next two days should be fun to watch.

Tampa defeated the Yankees, 5-3.
Held a half game lead for an hour or so.
Red Sox game just ended and they held on, barely, to beat the O's 8-7. It was 8-4 going into the bottom of the eighth.

Tampa and Boston remain tied for the WC.

In the NL, Atlanta lost opening the door for the Cards. ST.Louis has just taken the lead over Houston 8-6.
Come on Cards.

Would like to see a doubleheader of tie breakers on Thursday.

Well at least the Colby Rasmus trade worked out very well for the Cardinals in the short term. Edwin Jackson has been above average as a starter, Dotel and Rep have been solid (better the what they had before). They have added much needed depth to the pitching staff. Replacements for Rasmus have been better then the lost 2011 version of Rasmus.

Long-term it still looks bad.

It'll be an interesting night of baseball for sure (and perhaps an interesting Thursday?!?) Boston is tied with Tampa Bay; and Atlanta is tied with St. Louis. I know if after tonight Boston and Tampa Bay is still tied there'll be a one game playoff on Thursday for them...not sure if it's the same situation for Atlanta and St. Louis. Either way, there'll be a lot of scoreboard watching tonight for sure...

It will be a most interesting day for baseball fans.
The four teams involved control their own destinies 'win and your in'(Today and if necessary tomorrow).

Couple of Top Home Run Hitters with huge blows against top pitchers:

Teixeira with a grand slam against Price to give the Yanks a 5-0 lead.
Uggla with a 2 run HR off Hamels to give them a 3-1 lead.

Looks like the Rays are going to nead to lean on the Orioles.

I still can't believe that a player like Uggla had a 30 plus game hitting streak.
