Anyone have any experience with this car?
They seem to be at a pretty good price point and a friend mentioned Mitsubishi Lancer as a good reliable car, especially for what you're paying.
Looking at Hyundai Sonatas as well.
Nothing new, 1-3 year old models.

Mitsubishi was distributed previously in Canada by Chrysler when Chrysler was about to go under. When Chrysler was back on even keel, Mitsubishi was quickly dumped. Why didn't Mitsubishi go directly into Canada instead of relying on a half-hearted Chrysler effort was a mystery to me.

(At one time, Chrysler even bought engines from Mitsubishi for their 7-passenger vans)

Mitsubishi makes very good cars. They even built the famous Zero fighters in WWII. Mitsubishi won the Safari Rally many, many times.

B4 coming to Cda, I owned (personal & business) at least 6 Mitsubishi cars over a stretch of 10 years. IMHO, M is technologically more innovative than Toyota & Nissan.

I would buy Mitsubishi again & again.

However, don't underestimate the Korean vehicles. They are getting better & better, & prices are really competitive. Korean cars are good choice too but don't touch the traditional American Big three, they produce junk.

Want good value and quality?

In terms of price and a car that can last a long time without issues as well as a strong resale value. Can't go wrong with the Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic. I had a friend who had a 91 Corolla and he had over 400,000 km's on it with no problems.

Forget Mitsubishi. Support will suck in a few years if it doesn't already. Buy a Honda Civic. Can't go wrong for 24K on the road and lots of parts and dealers to fix her up if she has issues.

yah and how did that work out for them??
didn't they keep crashing into things:D
The Zero for all intents and purposes was obselete in 1942 and never improved beyond that. Also, they did the same with their electronics, came in to Canada, moved out leaving people hanging. I believe their cars are decent, but why take a chance. Support Ontario manufacturing and buy GM, Ford or Chrysler. Our economy needs your support.

Mitsubishi was aledgedly convicted of withholding defects from the public. They were prolific. They came to North America under Chrysler to keep that quiet because no new dealership could survive.

"famous Zero fighters". Try infamous. No pilot armour and the gas tanks were one piece not compartmentalized. The Hellcat tore them apart. A few hits and goodbye.

Actually, its not that ther were comparmentalized. USA aircraft, and everybody else, put rubber inside the wings. So if a bullent went through the wing it would self seal. The Zero was strickly speed, and they sacrificed everything for this. So no armour and if they got hit, the fuel would leak and they ran our of gas or went KaBoom!

I certainly accept that, but, the Hellfire had more power and did have plate around the pilot. Hence the nickname "flying tank".:)

True, I believe the Hellcat, not Hellfire, had the highest kill ratio of any plane in WW2. So back to the point, since Mitsubitsi, sound unreliable, why buy one. Sorry, I am biased in my opinion, but for too many reasons to mention, it is not good for Canada or Ontario to buy Japanese, for foreign. It is nice to see a Japanese company who makes a decent car get negative feedback.

Honda and Toyota both build in Ontario.

I drive a 04 Lancer and my dad drives a 05 Outlander. We both are very happy with the vehicle to this date.

I wanted to trade in the lancer for the 08 lancer GTS but the CVT as the auto tranny kept me away from it. I am now waiting for the 09 Lancer Ralliart or wait till RRM can develop a better piggyback ECU for the CVT version. My next vehicle will definetly be a Mitsubishi unless I win some lotto and get a high end Beamer
Reviews about the 08 Lancer found here

Now since Mitsu Canada reports directly with Japan, things are improving in the Mitsu World. The only problem we faced is parts availability. It can take few days or a week to get certain parts since they get imported from US. Mitsu Canada has hinted us that there is a possibility of opening a parts warehouse here in Canada if the current business trend stays same.
SOURCE

Now since your not getting a new one, I would recommend a 04 or 05 Lancer Ralliart. It has more juice and better suspension compared to the ES or OZ ( OZ is same as ES with just outside appearance improvement).

Yes, but just about all the tooling, etc, parts are made in Japan. Doesn't do much for Ontario.

Almost all entry level GM product is made in the US or mexico.

It seems everytime GM remakes of of their vehicles production gets moved to Mexico.

Back on Topic;

A Mitsu Lancer is an excellent buy....on of the best warranties in the business...

Check out the prices on used...much better value than a used Honda or Toyota
