I was lucky enough to watch Michael Bonacini run the kitchen when he was head chef at Scaramouche. He had a three strike policy, make a mistake and he would disapprove, make it again he'd show disdain, make it a third time - you're fired.

He has been divested of all his restaurants, no word on if he's been bought out of Eataly. And I still don't know what he did wrong. The Bastianich family have taken control of his business empire. Joe isn't much of a chef, Lidia is one of the best in the world.

You missed the point. He has to be a prick to make the show interesting. A reality show is not reality, it is merely an illusion of reality. The purpose is to entertain. The events on Master Chef are staged to make the show interesting. I do not believe it is an actual competition where people are given a single hour to cook a dish they have never cooked before. If I have you cook a dish you have never seen before in an hour, it would turn out to be a disaster.
BTW- Gordon in reality is a parasitic prick. He rents his name out to restaurants around the world and makes an appearance once or twice a year and expects $250,000/yr. He had such a deal with the Chalet BBQ ( charcoal roasted chicken ) on Laurier Avenue in Montreal. Gordon's name did not enhance the restaurant one bit but he still wanted his money in the multi year deal. Gordon went to court and sued the family owned business into bankruptcy.
Gordy's net worth - $190 million dollars.

Food for Diego and Enzo, remember a show called Restaurant Makeover? Very popular last decade but fake as hell, you can't renovate a eatery in 5 days, impossible. Most of the restaurants that appeared on the show went under anyway. The only unqualified success is Rifka's Mediterranean Kitchen.
