Is that transmission problem for the manual, automatic or both.

It was just for the automatic between 2003 to 2007 and because owners did not follow the oil change guidelines on that tranny BMW would void the warranty so it is not a concern unless you purchase a used car make sure you see the work history


All in a new one will cost just under 30K to over 40K


Used ones keep their value so no real deals out there but as with all cars a solid used one is the best deal

I see it as the working man's cute little BMW and although the mileage is great not a car of economics because of its cost and lack of space

But there are no serious issues with it and safety is better than you suspect with the air bags and reinforced body

The question is what are your needs as it is a niche car and a lot a fun to drive

Oh yeah, because of their light weight they have this unique feature where they reinforce thier tires so if you have a flat the tire keeps its shape for 150 km so you do carry a spare
