A stupid, useless, uneducated crowd, who unable to think can't be dangerous. Our grandparents were the brave lions and the new generation become the brainwashed sheeps.
George Orwell said that people would become ineffective because the heavy hand of Big Brother would keep them down.
Aldous Huxley said that people would become ineffective because they would become too distracted with meaningless BS to take issue with the things that are really important.
Between this and what Ed Snowden has exposed, I'm willing to say they're both right.
If you want to see humourous look at a distopian future, watch 'Idiocracy.' It's about a very average guy who wakes up in the future to find that stupidity has won out over brains, and this turn of events has made him by far the smartest man around. It was written either by the Beavis & Butthead or the South Park guys. It's dumb, but the message couldn't more clear.
Yes. And Toronto The Good.
I remember when Madonna was on her Truth or Dare tour back in 1991 or 92, she was warned by Toronto police that she'd be arrested if she faked masturbation during one of her songs.
No, she pulled it online, where every single one of her twelve year old fans saw it, despite their parents quaint notion that they know what their children view on the web.
Their rejection of Western culture and education as empty and decadent. I'm not saying I agree with it but it does make you pause. Honestly Ms Cyrus bores me just as much as Madonna once did and still does.
LOL... so true..the OP is a geezer... his idea of risque was when LT. Uhura kissed Capt. Kirk on Star Trek.. i'm even sure he had a problem with that too
If it makes you pause then you know deep down they have a point right? Western culture does glorify alot of vile/decadent things.. Many of them you can see just by turning on your TV or walking down the street on a summer day.

I might be wrong, but the intended audience was probably the people who attended the event at the club. The fact that 12 year olds see it on the internet is hardly her responsibility. Parents should censor their childrens' exposure to this, not the artist. And I use that term loosely.
You are right, I am sure her publicist had absolutely nothing to do with this getting online, and that they are all shocked and surprised that all her young teen fans viewed it.
Miley has a lot of very young fans. At her Toronto concert, which my 17 year old nephew attended, there were leagues of kids 12 and under that were at the show with their parents. They are Hannah Montana fans and they are very young. That age group is still a big part of her fan base, and because of that I think she may have gone a bit too far.
I'm told that lots of people got up with their kids and exited part way through the show. They likely should have been more aware of what her performance entails. The MTV awards stunt was totally tame in comparison to her live show.

If any of these kids have internet access (which is extremely likely), they've already been exposed to way worse. A simple search for Miley Cyrus alone will uncover many images of a very grownup Hannah Montana.
