Under a rock
(a) Does anyone know if Mike Toth has compromising photos of the producers of Sportsnet and The Fan?
(b) Can anyone explain how he got the job?
(c) Can anyone explain how he KEEPS the job??

Is there anyone more talentless or irritating on TV or the radio?

i HATE Doug Fairaway...he is soooo stuck up and loves refering to himself as the one that signs the cheques and tells hosts "yes you still have your job" or "dont make me fire you" blah blah blah. What a windbag.....Toth i can handle in small doses but he is a bit of a marroon

After a not so great start, I finally got used to him and his style, I can now live with it. Obviously there many others as well or else he wouldn't have a job.

I agree. He does have a bizarre sense of humour.

Some sports anchor people/teams or shows I have enjoyed past & present:

* Jim Van Horn when he used to anchor TSN at the dinner hour
* Years ago (prior to sport specialty channels) Global's sportsline at 11:30 was a great show to catch up on the days action (I believe that Bobcat was the original host?)
* Grapevine (I cannot recall the actual name - channel 11 in the Hammer)- Cherry's old half hour show. He had some great guests and neat clips. Though the show was slanted towards the "good old boy" approach (I don't think Salming was ever a guest), the guests were not afraid to speak their minds.
* NFL Primetime: Best NFL wrap up show ever. Berman, Jackson and guests gave you all the info on the days events in an unbiased format.
* Most fo the female anchors - I am perv and if possible, will masturbate to their image

Sports anchors or shows I do not care for:

* Dutchie - For some reason his voice and body movements irritate me. The way he uses catch phrases (going yard, off the window, etc.) feel forced rather than natural
* Gord Miller - I am slowly getting used to his voice but every time I see him it looks like his face is imploding
* Leaf TV Anchor Guys - The girl is hot, but those guys are lame, lame, lame.
* Landry at the Fan - Cheesy humour and a whiner. Can someone please end those Vinny jokes?

Toth is great. Behind Jay Onrait and Dan O'Toole he is the best in our market. Bob McCown is good too. These guys have fun doing their jobs.

The biggest idiots are the other guys on sportnet. Jason Portuando *pardon my spelling*...the guy is fucking retarded and cannot even read. I'd get better coverage tuning in to rogers community 10 with interns than this idiot. It's a damn shame cuz Sportsnet does have some good hosts (LOVE KYPREOS DOOD IS JOKES)....

I generally dislike almost all sports anchors (although I tolerated Ron Maclean and Brian Williams during the Olympic coverage on CBC in the past). Frankly, my preference is towards the way the BBC World Service reports news, where the main anchor gives the updates on sports after the main news and sticks to the facts, occasional dry, understated humour (depending on the anchor) and lack of overt emotion.

At the risk of being labelled a racist, lets face it: Portuando only has that job because he is black. He is a blithering idiot. Reminds me of Mark Jones.
For the record, I really like Cabbie. Especially when he interviews Kobe. Also really enjoy Tom Jackson for NFL stuff. And Strahan has been refreshing this year.

I agree with you about Portuando, I just didn't want to say it. hahaha..

I also LOVE Gerry Dee...HILARIOUS! Cabbie is awesome too...most of the TSN crew is good. Mike Hogan on the Fan knows his sports like no other I listen to him a lot except football friday's too much CFL bullshit...Stellick and Landry in the morning SUCK. I like Jack Armstrong and Doug McLean even though they go together like jam and mayonaise...it works for some reason!

He's the Program Director of the Fan, hence the name of his show "The Director's Chair". PD's do the hiring and firing of the on-air talent in radio.

The only on-air personalities @ fan590 worth listening too are Bob McGowan and Jim Kelly - warming up to Doug Mclean & Jack Armstong....still a ways to go though.....

My favourite's after McGowanare the ESPN guys during the day and late night (Jason Smith).

I can only listen to Portuando on sportsnet for about 5 seconds before I want to throw the remote at the tv. Like what was said before he cant read, stutters through the replays and even when he trys to be funny he cant.

Right behind Portuando is the biggest idiot of them all - Joe 'the Swiss' Tilley on CTV weeknights at 1130. His coooooooooooooooming up next with that uppercut bullshit drives me up the wall. He's a complete douche bag and I have no idea how he keeps the job.

As for the good/great ones:
Onrait/Otoole - funny, quick, and entertaining - a great way to start the morning with those guys
McCowan - asks the tough questions - maybe a little over the top when it comes to having the last word but definatley better that Watters on 640 during the drive home
Hebsy/Tatti - back in the day on sportsline/global "yes guys" and the 'hebsys" were some of the best

As for Toth I really don't mind him. He goes off the rocker a few times a show (radio) but all in all I find him quite entertaining with Mike Hogan from 9-noon. Good hockey knowledge especially junior and he's got a decent sense of humor

Its not as much the voice (although its annoying) but more the lack of knowledge and corny comments.

For me its just hard to take her seriously - she just appears to be way over her head in this gig.

If you need a prominent chick on the golf channel put her behind the desk at golf central or something.
