Stay active but avoid heavy impact activities. You have to control your urge to go for the gusto and realize that certain activities are no longer age appropriate... or you'll learn the hard , painful way . Injury recovery is slow and in many instances permanent.

I've changed sports, not to something easier on the body but simply to something that my head doesn't expect to do what I did in my 20's. Doesn't help prevent injuries but it does help mentally.

I'm resigned to being injured and just think it's the price of getting out and trying to compete.

Pickle ball looks like fun like badminton. Choose the latter. Easier on the joints.

Act your age not your shoe size. Stop doing deadlifts, heavy squats, heavy bench. Go light with 20+++ reps per set.

How middle aged are you? 32, 60?

Sports are hard as age. Working out and lifting weights will build strength to reduce the chance of injury. Yoga and stretching will reduce the chance of different types of injury too.

At 57, I find that I hit a wall in terms of drinking. Sometimes, even after two drinks I feel off. Is it blood sugar, or maybe the blood/brain barrier breaking down as it does when you get older.?

Thank you for posting the video.
After watching it twice (less the Nutrisence promo :) ), @9:15 increasing the load to recruit fast twitch fibres: I'll do db bench press wit 25lb dbs, do 25-30 reps the last few reps would be partial reps, drop one db then continue with 2 hands on the one db then rep out with the last few reps being partials. After 60 or so reps I'm thinking the fast twitch fibres are recruited. I'll do 5 or 6 sets and needless to say on the 4th set I'm doing less than 60 reps because the muscle is getting tired (recall I'm 63). I also will use variations eg supinated grip ( palms facing me) or "normal" grip (palms facing in). For most of my exercise routine I use drop sets. I use the lighter weight because I try to avoid joint injuries.

I train at home, I haven't been in a commercial gym for 15 years. "Feeling strong today, lets do 225. oww hurt 4 weeks off". As long as you're exercising regularly, keep moving (2 dogs helps!) avoid the drive through, all will be good.

Ditto. I haven’t seen the inside of a gym in 15-20 years. Other than the treadmill, I don’t really work out either. Though a I do somewhat frequently lift a lot of weight around the house just doing projects. Nothing like doing a French drain and moving tons of soil and gravel by hand. I have my dog, work is also physically demanding. Injuries are part of the job.

At 59 I don’t know if I’ve ever been in better age appropriate shape. I still hold my own at work, where many wonder what my actual age is, where most are half my age. I may not be as fast as I used to be, nor quite as strong. Nor have the same stamina.

In the last year, I’ve been to the ER twice, and have filled out WSIB 4 times. So have colleagues. Biggest difference, is the recovery. It takes longer. Soft tissue damage and injuries. Years ago I might have bounced back in a few days, these days it takes twice as long or longer.

We can’t cheat age or time. Some like myself just naturally have fast metabolism’s, I’m corded and toned vs muscle bound, etc. I actually have to work, to gain weight. And while my six pack isn’t visible anymore, it’s still there.

It happens to all of us. Stay in shape, I find basic daily routines of stretching and/or yoga. Running or any other suitable aerobic. Lifting weights, sure. Also a good way to hurt yourself at advanced ages. If I can recommend 2 things.

Your legs and core. I’m 100% sure, SPs see a ton of guys, a lot younger than me. I’ve gotten a lot of comments about my legs and core.

Be realistic about it. That’s all

Time to think of new hobbies that your older body can handle. You can get seriously hurt yourself trying to prove something that will never happen. You are not going to beat the 20 year olds. You just have to learn to face facts.
Yeah right. Keep on hobbling. And hope not injured by CG or RCG. Doggy is safer.LOL.
This I a good advice from a longtime hobbiest and not a sp.

Hey I have a question for you. I’d dearly like to manage a second SOG again but aside from (or in addition to) drugs and presession abstinence do you have any tips?

Often I can’t manage a second with the SP - even in 2-3 hours - but an hour later at a massage place (which mostly don’t exist now) I could or an hour later at home I can do two though sometimes the porn has to be a bit dark to get me there.

@Jenesis if you’re with a client you’re comfortable with and he’d like to try a second but needs help, do you have any “go-to” moves?

Same. Have a whole new “pussy beer fridge” of alcohol free that I’m enjoying more and more.

That and weed. Still scared of shrooms.

Ultimately the body is going to decide regardless of “moves” but sometimes guys put too much pressure on themselves for the second shot and get into their own head. For that- a really good BLS helps relax a client and get them out of their own head. If done right, most guys fall into a rhythm of bliss and get to a point of pleasure and relaxation that they end up, not caring about the second shot. Once they don’t care about the second shot, they usually get instantly hard, and the second shot comes.
