I use Outlook for one of my e-mail accounts. Now every time I want to sign in to that account, I have to provide the related e-mail account formerly used for password recovery, and a unique 6 number code is sent to the secondary account, which is needed to sign in the the outlook account.

I'm given the option of 'remaining signed-in', which, if chosen, would eliminate this verification step.

Remaining signed in to online accounts allows for more efficient data mining of one's internet activities. Ideally, Microsoft, Google, Meta, etc. would want everyone to stay signed in to e-mail accounts, facebook, Twitter/X, etc. ; 'all the better to track you with, my dear'. These companies also want you to sign in with a mobile phone number, which easily allows them to match your 'anonymous' online handle(s) with your phone number, allowing for 'persons of interest' to have their current and recent geographic locations to be monitored through Google Earth.

Most people will just give that information up, for the sake of convenience. Just whom may have or may be able to obtain that kind of information is anyone's guess.

Thanks for this. Yes, it is all becoming very invasive.

Dude, they already allow access to law enforcement. It's how they caught the NY CEO killer so quick. The only way to truly stop it is to either disconnect. Or pay cash for devices, never shop online, never use home wifi, or friends wifi, or a regular place for it.

Once these AI centers are finished, it will be even easier.

This agglomeration of personal identification is evil and deeply troubling in so many ways.

I do NOT stay permanently signed in to anything. FFS, even PORNHUB wants you to "Sign in with Google"!

I'm seriously considering signing up to one of those services where they actively contact and followup with Google, data brokers etc to have whatever information they already have on you and your devices /IP etc deleted and then follow up monthly etc.

Ingogni is one: Ingogni

DeleteMe is another.

PrivacyBee etc

I might try signing up with each one for the free trial to get things started.

Also, because I have (dual) EU citizenship I am going to look into taking advantage of the MUCH stronger EU privacy protection laws when I sign up for one of these services.

One other thing... if you have a favourite YouTuber you can see if they have discount codes to sign up through. Most importantly, it helps support your fave YT creator!

Nope. My TERB addiction is enough of a time suck! 😜

But I've seen some good YouTube creators promote the Ingogni service and it makes sense. I think it was either Ryan MacBeth, Artur Rehi or Combat Vet news. Or Sampson Boat Company. 🤷‍♂️

I been asked by MS hotmail / outlook to verify my other email and a code was sent. This would happen twice a year but 4 times in a week is silly.

Even my Windows 10 has been crippled by them with their silly updates.

That e-mail verification would be unnecessary if you stay signed in to the e-mail account, which is what they want you to do.

One of the things that Windows updates does is search your installed program files, looking for specific software. It disables them if your copy is unregistered. Some copyright owners are paying Microsoft to do this.

This is not 'conspiracy speculation' on my part. I know this as a fact because with a Windows XP operating system, the Update.log file could be opened and read with notepad.exe, and most of the log is in plain English. Now if someone wants to read the update .log, they need to request to do so from Microsoft. What they receive might not be complete, or it might be unreadable to someone who can't decipher ASCII code.

The program I use to make computer fonts is a cracked version of ScanFont3.13, an app no longer sold, (it's from the mid 1990's), and it can't run with any Windows operating system more recent than XP. it also won't run after the January, 2014 Windows update.

I had my repair geek install Windows XP and service packs 1,2, and 3 onto a few laptops, (I have five of these), which have never been connected to the Internet since the operating system was installed; I move data from them with a flash drive. The processing speed of these computers is incredibly fast for tasks like an internal search. Looking through the contents of a folder with hundreds of files takes minutes for me with Windows 10. Looking for something specific in all files and folders on the XP machines takes one second. Internet slows EVERYTHING down.

I think Windows search no longer allows for all files/ folders created or modified on or between specific calendar dates to be the search parameter. I used this function extensively after one of my computers was hacked in 2017, and I was able to delete hundreds of files and folders which were created by the hacking virus.
