right, that's why he's worth 200 million and the drug industry memos its staff about not talking to him, and that's why he's going to clean up at cannes. Not bad for a college drop out from Flint.

I dunno, whenever he does anything the cons foam at the mouth and can't stop badmouthing him for weeks. Seems like they're the ones taking him too seriously. Reminds me of the old line: "Methinks the lady doth protest too much."

'Sicko' Shows Michael Moore's Maturity as a Filmmaker
Saturday, May 19, 2007
By Roger Friedman

Filmmaker Michael Moore's brilliant and uplifting new documentary, "Sicko," deals with the failings of the U.S. healthcare system, both real and perceived. But this time around, the controversial documentarian seems to be letting the subject matter do the talking, and in the process shows a new maturity.

Unlike many of his previous films ("Roger and Me," "Bowling for Columbine," "Fahrenheit 9-11"), "Sicko" works because in this one there are no confrontations. Moore smartly lets very articulate average Americans tell their personal horror stories at the hands of insurance companies. The film never talks down or baits the audience.

At a press conference on Saturday, Moore said, "This film is a call to action. It's also not a partisan film."

Indeed, in "Sicko," Moore criticizes both Democrats and Republicans for their inaction and in some cases their willingness to be bribed by pharmaceutical companies and insurance carriers.

In a key moment in the film, Moore took a group of patients by boat to the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba because of its outstanding medical care. When they couldn't get into the U.S. naval base, Moore proceeded onto Havana where the patients were treated well and cheaply.

This has caused a great deal of controversy, with the federal government launching an investigation into the trip, which officials say was in violation of the trade and commerce embargo against the Communist country.

Does anyone side with pharmaceuticals ripping off consumers?

Besides politicians, I mean.

It would be hilarious if he was prosecuted for the Cuba trip...... I see a Paris Hilton moment in the making.

Global Warming and Universal Health Care are the lefts key issues in the next round of big tax hikes and regulation...... Trying to drive our economy to Euro levels of inefficiencies.

The world needs more Michael Moores. He's a shit disturber. Say all you want about him fabricating and timeline issues. His work stirrs things up. Thats what documentary films are meant to do. Read Grearson's "On Documintary" which is the bible of doc film making. He's doing fantastic work. I cant wait to see sicko. He's also brought documentarys into the mainstream which is a great achievement. The Cuba thing was a brilliant move.

I'm sure MM would agree with you. Charges will be more cannon fodder, more exposure, more sales, more money in the jeans. With that, he will make more movies.

JyllandsPostens reviewer in Cannes was not too impressed with the movie.
Of course, somebody from Denmark may think that the depiction of the
american health care system is exaggerated.

Michael Moore doesn't make documentaries. His movies are as fictional as the Spider Man trilogy.

Michael Moore was counting on the backlash from the Cuba trip.

As I said before, he is many times smarter than his followers.
