Miami, wonderful Miami, is one of the most caring cities in the country.
Wait - you didn’t really believe that, did you? Of course that’s not true. In fact, according to a new survey, Miami is one of the least compassionate cities in America, which you already knew because the last thing your neighbor said to you involved seven letters, two words and ended with “you.”
In its latest survey, WalletHub looked at 100 cities across the country to see which was the most compassionate. To absolutely no one’s surprise Miami came in at no. 93, barely ahead of Detroit.
Even Hialeah beat Miami, making it all the way to no. 85.
What part of compassion are we terrible at? All parts, according to WalletHub. Miami does not want to help its neighbors. So is Hialeah - the cities tied for 70th place. We don’t volunteer much, either (no. 72) and we don’t help improve our communities (no. 84).
We are truly lame.
Meanwhile, a couple of other Florida cities scored a bit higher, with Jacksonville at no. 52 and Tampa at no. 54. Orlando, though, isn’t much better than us: no. 88. Maybe it’s all the tourists.
WalletHub considered data across 39 key indicators, taking into consideration the number of sheltered homeless people, the number of hours volunteered and the amount of income donated to charity. Had the study included likelihood of times some guy in a BMW cut you off in traffic, we’d be no. 100.
The most caring city in America? Virginia Beach, Va., closely followed by Madison, Wisconsin.
