I’ve had room service walk in on me during vacations, so it’s not uncommon. How do you know she hasn’t kicked someone out midway through a service just because they didn’t finish as quickly as she expected? If setting a timer is weird, then I guess checking the time during a service is weird too, since the only difference is that with a timer, you don't have to keep guessing how much time has passed.
