After reading the buy & sell thread... why is it so difficult for a guy to go to his doctor to get a script for cialis or viagra?

secondly....

If your doctor says you shouldnt use these drugs... why would you risk it?

Curious is all...

Ok... I get that... but you would think they would still have HOPE to engage in intimate moments with the SO.....

I just know that I have a couple of friends who are single (for sure) and have said they are embarassed to ask the dr. or...... the dr. has said they shouldnt use viagra.

1) We all know that most complaints guys have who are married is the fact that the SO doesn't put out anymore. I mean, 1 out of maybe 100 married guys I know, or who post online, complain that their wives have turned into nuns.
2) Why they are embarrassed. You have to understand most men are "all about their sexual prowess" and to openly admit that you're not all that vigorant anymore is a blow to the ego.

Maybe I can put it into the female perspective: how many billions of dollars do women spend on makeup/beauty products, waxing, plucking, hair styles, clothes etc ? Now how would a woman feel if a doc told them they couldn't wear makeup anymore? Better yet, (and I know this is more than a little more devastating to a woman but...) how would you feel if a doc told you you had breast cancer and would need a mastectomy?

My ego isn't fragile and I had NO problem asking my Doc for some but there are a lot of guys whose ego is extremely fragile and they can't deal with it. To some, it is almost like admitting that you're not a man anymore.

Is that a joke. You are joking, right?

I do have friend who is a smoker and starting to suffer ED. ( I have never smoked anything) Usually the Dr will first tell you to lose weight: Essentially get fit, get hard, get laid. The second is to stop smoking.

He won't stop smoking or lose weight. His hardening arteries interfere with his ability to get an erection. He is using Viagra. The Dr cautioned against it because it masks the underlying condition, smoking. His difficulty in getting an erection is a massive warning sign that something is starting to clog up his heart. He should be worried.

He is not changing his behavior. Instead in typical male fashion he is blaming women. He stated that he doesn't like cougars, even though he is forty five, because they have "attitudes". (Yeah fucking stop smoking, get fit) Regrettably he has cash and a lavish enough lifestyle that he can attract some younger women. He has lost me though lol.

Well, I don't know any doctor that would prescribe any drug that could cause someone peril. If the doc IS prescribing viagra knowing full well that it could hurt your "friend" then that doc is opening himself up to a malpractise suit.

Embarrassement is one thing, but many guys have the same family doctor as their SO. Unless you have a great sex life with your SO and are very open with her you don't want to go to the same family doctor because that opens up a can of worms.
So now you got to go to a walk-in clinic which promptly refers you to a specialist. The specialist assesses you and if you are lucky you may get a prescription.
Too much hassle in my opinion.

The only time viagara is going to hurt anyone is if they are taking a nitro based pill for heart problems. Then it may kill you.
Refusing to give viagara because someone smokes or is overweight is bullshit. It doesn't mask any symptoms, it just lets you get laid.
I smoked and I was overweight, and I had a bitch of a time getting it up. When Viagara was first approved I was immediately at my doctor's getting a prescription. No problem with the doctor at all, I juts told him I couldn't get it up and wanted to try the new pill. It was a little embarassing at first, especially taking it to a female pharmacist. I think I was the first prescription of viagara she ever filled.
The doctor, at my request, made out the prescription for 15 pills. The pharmacist told me my health insurance covered only 2 pills a month, so I told her I'd pay for the other 13 myself as I needed them. Since then she has always been very pleasant to me.
I now try to avoid Viagara and use cialis or levitra. Viagra gives me a lasting headache that makes me prefer abstinance to taking the pill.

The problem is when doctors make decisions based on their own prejudices rather than on their medical knowledge. Refusal to give a fat smoker viagara is just such a decision.
Thats the reason there are second opinions.
And someone doesn't need a degree in pharmacy or to be licenced as an MD in Ontario to make an educated choice.

OH, so you got a second opinion from another doctor or a pharmacist, not a third person on an escort review board? Yes, one can make and educated choice, but where did one get that education? An escort review board? The brother of the guy who mows your lawn? Your wife's first husband's mechanic? THAT is the point I'm trying to make.....

But anyhow, the moral of the story is to not listen to hearsay, but to listen to someone who knows WTF they are talking about.
