It might shock you to know that frequently the subject of documentaries are not compensated. And, when they are, I can almost guarantee its not in the eight figure range. I mean, Beyonce was reportedly paid $20M for her doc on Netflix, but she's actually popular and it got a millions of streams. She is also significantly better know, respected and followed than Melania.
So they can get paid 20M and up but Melania can't because she's not popular than Beyonce? This might shock you but...she's the FLOTUS...

Also, don't you think it's weird that she got $28M for this drivel? And, I really want you to think about this for a second: Do you think they could have gotten Melania's permission to make a documentary on her at a fraction of the cost? I mean, do you think she'd turn this down if they only offered her $3m? And, did Amazon MGM really think this would be an amazing piece of cinema that would recoup the price they paid? I mean, $75M is nothing to sneeze at. Or, is the Amazon board looking at the loss and just chalking it up to a business expense to ensure the company continues to get government contracts and little pushback from Trump?
And, while nobody will ever come out and say it was a bribe to ensure Trump and his DOJ didn't fuck with Amazon, I think most people see it for what it is: graft. No other film studio was bidding for this, most likely because none cared enough, or thought it would be successful.

I think all SPs should be able to charge what they want and see if the market will bear it. The issue I have is that this is a payoff.
