Hi,

this is a stupid question but...

I have a lil teeny weeny bald spot...okay...okay....ill wait till u stop rolling around on the floor laughing ur ass off ....checking watch.....okay...done yet?...okay...I have this bald spot, and i kno im not the only one - about 75% of men out there have it too...My question is ..my doctor told me, without my inquiring, that there's this procedure where they take a piece of skin from the bottom of ur head and "transplant" it ontop of ur head, so that it takes the space of the less prevalent area. This seems to be a very sound procedure. I don't trust those other procedures they advertise so prolifically and so aggressively on television, with a thousand guarantees and promises, yet the procedure they describe appears very nasty. They install fake hair or a fake rug/toupee and stitch it in, or fake "doll hair" or fake hair strands that are not live. I heard on 20/20 documentary a long time ago - that these fake dollhair/fake toupees/rugs - the stitches sewn underneath the skin - while doesn't sound like a very pleasant surgery to go under - also causes bleeding later on. So, this is why i totally reject the idea. But the skin transplant procedure sounds very medically sound. I think this is why this procedure is only practiced by licensed doctors who actually respect and honour medical procedures that are safe on their patients, instead of greedy money-makers whom everything that comes out of their mouth is a lie, jand say anything just to get ur wallet.

Anyways, my question is...i want to add a little spot of healthy rich hair transplanted from skin somewhere else (i have alot of extra hair to spare) ..on just a small area on top of my head, so i can complete a tail hairstyle i have, that is interrupted by a receding area. Im thinking the area is so small, it shouldn't cos too much to do it, maybe 500 bucks a prcedure? Or am i deluding myself?

I know this might seem extreme, but i heard people wanted slight physical alterations done, that costed them 50,000 dollars...for like little bumps removed on their foreheads etc etc...and i don't have this kind of money - if the procedure like mine, simple enough shouldn't cost so much. I would do it.

Has anyone looked into this? Got a little info?

I know it seems a lil extreme - but look at the girls who went to extremes in the name of good looks...eye tucks, skin lifts, chin lifts, cellulite removal....

if its like only 500 and can be done so quickly and easily? ...or is it too complicated...?

500 sounds low IMO
I had a small gum graft done a few years ago and it was about $1k, a couple hundred bucks doesn't go very far in proffesional fees these days

Some heads were made perfect. Others are covered by hair.

Chicks dig bald guys. Think Yul Brynner. Telly Savalas. Patrick Stewart. Bald = mondo libido.

Yes. That teeny weeny bald spot you have now, is only going to get bigger
Exactly.

Any way you cut it, that teeny weeny bald spot is going to end up the size of a fried egg.

hard to say...

it's hard to say whether the procedure would be worthwhile given that no one here can assess or see what the extent of the spot is, as well as having an accurate family history. That being said, any cosmetic procedure carries benefits and risks. The simple ones like infection risk, scarring, post-op pain are something to evaluate. Also look at your surgeon... go with the one that has the most experience with this procedure and don't let yourself be a guinea pig, otherwise the results may not be what you were hoping for.

$500 does seem pretty low... depends on the Md's credentials I'd figure... like we preach on this board "you get what you pay for" so do your research. My major concern would be that later down the road if you do bald more will the scarring that will eventually be shown be minimal.

get a couple of opinions from a few MDs that do the procedure, plastic surgeons preferrably, and go from there. They will be looking out for your best interests and give you the info to make an informed decision which is right for yourself.

Go with the pubic hair transplant. Everytime you get excited your hair will turn into a Mohawk cut!

I saw a guy who had male pattern baldness not a bald spot. He got some pretty good hair transplants done and it looked fuller. A few years later his male pattern baldness continued from where it had left off (now the middle of his head) and he had lost his job so he couldn't afford the required touch ups.

FUCKING HILLARIOUS!!!! Hair, strip of no hair, then hair.

When you saw him approaching did you point at him and say "hair today, gone tomorrow"?

way out in left field
Dude: losing your hair is a part of a guy growing more mature. Get used to it...don't buy into this "everyone has to look perfect"....

I was chatting with this 40 something woman on lavalife one night and she says to me (after I pm'd her) "sorry, but I'm looking for a guy with a full head of hair"

I replied: "well, I'm looking for a woman in her 40's without saggy boobs too but I'm not going to find her" lol

Needless to say, I didn't hear back from her haha

Anyhow, point is: if a woman isn't attracted to you because of your bald spot, then tell her to fuck off. Most women I've found who are hyper-critical of a guy's looks aren't worth your time.....

As suggested, shave it off or buzz it short. Tons of woman love rubbing the little stubble you get when buzzed with a 0.5 blade on a razor. Just think, you can cut your own hair at home with a trimmer that costs only about as much as 1 hair cut. Leaves more $$ for the sp's !! LOL
