Read some reviews that MDG put great deals in their ads just to get you in the door then they tell you they`re all sold out of that and try to sell something else. They have that so familiar phrase bait and switch tagged on them. Gee Wizz I bet nobody on Terb has ever come across that.

Somthing fishy is going on (Just like a too good to be true Escort service)

Or other stupid stuff.

Last year a freind dragged me in there for a well priced laptop. I told him it was TGTBT but I was curious what the scam would be this time.

Well, for the laptop, the battery and OS were extra! They did not actually have one of those laptops without battery and OS but they could get one up from Peru or wherever.

The funny thing is that the equipment they actually sell might be competitively priced. However, I will never deal with them because of their shady practices.

Don't have any first hand experience but I can say that when I was looking for an LCD TV I was intrigued by their low prices. It was only after looking at the specs (Contrast Ratio 800:1, Response Time 12ms) that I realized they're selling 1st generation crap.

I have bought 2 computers from MDG - they are a B & S shop - but if you know what you want then you can come away with a deal. Their advertised prices are always for old stock - if you want current stock add $2-300. All the freebees have to be paid when you buy - then you get rebates if you apply for them - a $900 advertised computer cost me $2100 with upgrades to get dual core, increased ram, increased HD, faster MB etc. By the time I got the rebates back the machine cost me $1600 but still a good price - just a lot of hassle to get it - also after sales service is not great - good place if you know how to take care of things yourself.

You'd be better off swaping spit and having unprotected anal sex using razor blades for foreplay with an ebola and HIV infected chimp than shopping at MDG. Total BS place. BS can equally stand for bullshit and bait and switch.

There are enough reliable computer shops that will let you buy the components and will even put the thing together for you. Don't waste time on MDG, Dell or the rest.

MDG is a legitimate business, but owned and run by Russian mafia. I was enlightened by one of Metro's 'finest' who are well aware of it.

Many days it seems that The Toronto Sun is more a MDG ad than a newspaper.

MDG are scammers. Do they deliver the product they advertise, sometimes however their customer service is pittyful. I'd stay away from both them and Dell. Best Buy, Future Shop, Notebook Store, who ever all offer good products at competitive pricing.

Not when it comes to computers or accessories.
I got my Logitech keyboard at TigerDirect for $60. It can be bought at most computer shops for $60 to $75. Future Shop wants $128.99 for the same one.
A CD drive to motherboard audio cable is $1 or $2 at a computer shop. They want $19.
Gouging is hardly 'competitive pricing'.

I bought a MDG desk top for about a thousand two years ago. It is still going strong, without any problems. Since I got the MDG...I have returned a Toshiba and a Compaq that had serious problems and another family member is having the hard drive replaced on a year old Dell...part of a recall.
Bottom line is I don't think there are any guarantees. There are potential problems with all brands.

Personally I find that when a problem does occur is when you see the company shine, or not. Things will always break down, but it's how painless companies make the experience that counts for me.
