Is this what passes as news around here now? To me this is a non-issue. This will most likely spark a wave of investigations into what else is the Ontario Government buying from companies outside of the province. What will happen when we learn that just about everything they buy is made in China?
And if the NDP and the rest of you pro-labour wackos really care about this issue then I suppose they put their money where their mouth is and live by this code of conduct themselves.

Does it matter? People are just so fixated on things that are not even important, and make big deals out of it.

If you look at the Canada history, chinese people played a great role in it, such as building the rail roads. Canada is the most diverse country in the world. Why it surprise us that Canada flag is made in China? It doesnt matter.
People should pay more attention on lack of infrastructures development, road repairs, under-developed and over-priced TTC who keep asking for more money, and etc.

80% of things are made in china these days...been more so in the last 12 years. Go to Europe and they are starting to get more imports as well . But at least they know to pay for quality as we on North America look for "walmart" quantity buys.. I have a habit of constantly look at the label when i decide on a purchase...but painfully there isn't anything good made in Canada to buy...only remotely Canadian in my purchases that is...is the jeans at the "Costco" which cost $16 and is possibly made at a old "levis" plant still running...at least i can say that.
Name one thing that is Canadian made your purchases other than autos , fruit and vegs!?

I think it demonstrates a point that the government doesn't care or is insensitive. But, this kind of thinking translates to other projects as well. I think there was a project where a foreign supplier was chosen for train cars over Bombardier. It's not only the lost jobs, but the spin off losses and unemployment and economic costs that factor in.
