Rourke and Tomei are two of my favorite actors; that's why, even though it's a depressing movie, I'll watch The Wrestler again.smylee52 said:

He has been dealing with rage issues regarding his brutal step-father. Recently his step-father attempted to refute Rourke's claims of physical abuse and got promptly shot down by Rourke's sister and step-sister.
As he was gaining success in the 80's, Rourke started abusing drugs and alcohol. His solution to the problem was to give up acting and become a professional boxer - also directors could no longer tolerate his violent temper. In order to rehabilitate himself, Rourke had to hit rock bottom; that happened in 2002 when Rourke got knocked out by Chuck Zito at the Manhattan strip club Scores. Zito portrayed Chucky "The Enforcer" Pancamo in the HBO series Oz. Ever since that cathartic event Rourke has sought help for his rage and has taken acting seriously again.

I remember hearing that years ago too. Never knew if there was truth to it or not. I know for a fact that Rourke was an asshole back then. He had many episodes at his own club called the spot, which he owned in Miami. As far as Zito goes, he was a bit of a shit head in his day too. Had an attitude and fought allot.
