Let me preface this by saying i'm a personal trainer, with any years of experience with banned substances.
Marion Jones is not on anabolic steriods she is probably on HGH (human growth hormone) which gives the same effects as Anabolics without the muscle size. It gives Increadable recouperation between workouts, and strength.
Not all AS are the same, some are for size only others are for muscle definition, others give huge strength gains with little increase in mass, others make you super aggresive(roid rage).
All athletes are using some form of banned substance....I can name names !!
Passing a drug test is so simple....
Here is a true story....do you all remember FLO JO who broke all those world records and also had the long fingernails. Her way of getting around the tests was to put clean urine in a balloon or condom, insert it into her vagina, run the race with it inside her and when it was time for the urine sample those long fingernails came in handy to pop the balloon or condom with the clean urine, fooling the IOC and the entire track and field world and knowbody was the wiser. Making Millions of dollars in ads and sponsership and being an american hero...we are such a bunch of suckers.

Here is a tidbit....when sammy sosa came into the league he weighted 176 Lbs, today he weights 235 Lbs thats a 60 Lb of solid fat free mass. That kind of increase for a mature male without chemical enhancement is IMPOSSIBLE. make your own judgement.

Agreed Opus - my contention has always been not who's on or not. But....

To this day, regarding the Johnson fiasco; my theory was always simple. Ben was so jackked up on whatever (D balls and V) that he embarassed the IOC into canning his ass. He had those lovely bloodshot eyes accompanied by a smattering of muscles and unecessary vascularity that made him stick out like a juice pig.

I guess if everybody does it discreetly, nobody would object too much. But, when you start with juice, hit it with GH, superset that with insulin, add a little ephedrine (or an ephrdrine derived drug...like...hmmm...meth) and then toss in EPO for a higher Hgb count....sooner or later the general public will find out- then what.

The idiacy of the Jones case is in the unbelievable circumstances SHE put herself in. We know the sport is dirty, but; now she looks awful bad - just quit. Do the USTF a favor and don't embarass everybody on the team (although they're probably all on - but, nobody singled any of them out).

As well....hey if golfers, pistol shooters and archers use beta blockers and some others use cocaine- ahhh what the hell.

If you get caught- time to face the music.....if you make everybody else look bad - quit, beefore someone drops a quarter in the juke box.

This sounds like an urban legend. Aren't there enough markers in urine that it would be trivial to identify it as not belonging to flojo. Personally, I do think flojo was on drugs (and her marathon bid after was humourous at best).

I do think Canada almost did a disservice with the whole Ben Johnson inquiry. They put all the dirt on the table, when most other countries have been sweeping it under the rug. It is hard to see all the athletes who know they lost to dirty athletes and there is little they can do about it (Steve Bauer being a good example).
