I was really hoping that this would not come to pass but it seems that even a good and wonderful woman who devoted her life to helping the people of Iraq is deemed not worthy of mercy by the Islamic extremists. The death of Margaret Hassan shows that evil knows no bounds.
Though I have been against the U.S. invasion right from the beginning and my opinion has not shifted, I am sickened by the disgusting acts of the insurgents, of which nobody could convince me are justified in any way. Furthermore, I wish that the Islamic community as a whole would be more vocal in condemning the acts of these extremists, as the appalling silence is deafening. My heart goes out to all of the families who have lost loved ones to these despicable executions committed by men who are blinded to humanity by their evil religious zealotry.
