Leafs had to sign Alex Bishop as a back up for tonight’s game because of cap issues. He’s a goalie for U of T.

This is hilarious. Guess that makes him a professional now. Yes?

Different writer same praise for Nylander
https://mapleleafshotstove.com/2021/10/17/toronto-maple-leafs-report-cards-vs-ottawa-senators/
Synopsis:
Leafs far better with him on the ice than not.
He makes Kerfoot look good. Ditto Galchenyuk
He wins puck battles.
He leads team in slot shots.
He is elite puck carrier.
He kills penalties.

The early years Nylander was on par with Marner until Marner pulled ahead.
At this moment the way both are playing I'd say Nylander is at least on par again.

I will be the first to admit, I wasn't a fan of him, but within the last 2 years he has changed my mind - he makes others look good while he excels his own development. WN88 - I am a fan.

Old Irish proverb: "To whom much is given, much is expected."

"The main criticism that Marner has faced this summer from both fans and pundits has been that he has failed to live up to the expectations that come with being one of the highest paid wingers in the National Hockey League. Comparisons to playoff performers like Nikita Kucherov, Brayden Point, Mikko Rantanen and David Pastrnak have ultimately soured a lot of Leafs fans on Marner, who have begun to label him as a soft, overpaid, mentally weak player who simply can't put it together in the postseason." There are some/many Leaf fans who stopped drinking the kool aid.

The NHL is a professional league. This bush league.

There should be a rule preventing just bringing someone in off the street.
So a player from Canadian University isn't eligible to sign a try-out contract? That doesn't seem fair...

He didn't play, Leafs won the game...no big deal.

He wasn't off the street. He was sitting in his couch.
Where was Dart when Ayres jumped in to play. I suppose he wasn't off the streets either but rather sitting on his zamboni.

No, he didn't get paid, but he gets to keep his jersey and some great memories.

David Ayres, and others around the league, only dresses if a goalie goes down in warm-up or during the game.

I'm glad you explained this to Dart and spoke slowly since he has difficulty comprehending.

Yeah, was just having a bit of fun with the situation (tongue in cheek). No big deal.

No surprise, SS88 piggy backed on your post because he didn't know the rules so he piggy backed on you.

It use to be Nylander, Andersen, Gardner, Kadri, etc. but Marner was the subject of both fan and media criticism this past Summer.

Shesterkin 2, Leafs 1, and I couldn't be happier. Yeah, I'm a Rangers fan from the old-Garden, Gump-the-goalie days. Something's gotta go right for us sometimes, '94 notwithstanding. I know Leafs Nation feels the same way. We both believe the sky is always fallen. But as I write this, there's fat, bright moon shining through a window, so the sky is up there somewhere. This morning it's a Rangers sky.

IS31 def. stole that one - great performance. That overtime period was something else though.

You could say Forsberg stole one also.
Matthews looked rusty. His hands are usually quick. Perhaps the quickest of any player on par with Kane.

Time to ditch this Nick Robertson for whatever they can get now.
Kid is damaged goods.
Same with Ian Scott.
